Monitoring of arterial hypertension on representative samples has shown that overall prevelance of coronary heart disease (CHD) in Russia is 13.5 +/- 0.1%, in men--14.3 +/- 0.3%, in women--13.0 +/- 0.2%. This is three times higher than in the United States where this figure in 2004 was 4.9%. CHD morbidity raises with age and in population over 70 years of age reaches in Russia 50%. Recently, treatment of CHD improved significantly, modern medication is applied more often though doses of drugs are often not optimal and specialized medical aid is not sufficient.

Eosinophilic Myocarditis: A Concise Review.

Curr Cardiol Rep

January 2025

Division of Heart and Vascular, Metrohealth Medical Center, 2500 Metrohealth Dr, Cleveland, OH, 44109, USA.

Purpose Of Review: Eosinophilic myocarditis (EM) is a rare and heterogeneous form of inflammatory heart disease that can present with a wide range of severity. Current literature is limited to case reports or small case series that outline the evaluation process, disease course, and the nonstandardized treatments trialed. This review aims to concisely summarize the current literature on EM including an update on maintenance therapy for refractory or recurrent disease.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide, so prevention and early diagnosis play important roles to reduce mortality and morbidity. Traditional risk-score assessments were used to find the at-risk patients in order to prevent or early treatment of CAD. Adding imaging data to traditional risk-score systems will able us to find these patients more confidently and reduce the probable mismanagements.

Purpose Of Review: This review evaluates recent advancements in Technetium-99 m pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) imaging for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). We summarize the advantages of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) over planar imaging, the potential impact of quantitative methods, and emerging data for quantifying response to therapy.

Recent Findings: The current literature demonstrates the superior diagnostic accuracy of SPECT compared with planar imaging in 99mTc-PYP studies.

Angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARB) are antihypertension medications that improve cardiac remodeling and protect the heart. However, at the early stage of hypertension, it is still unclear how these two drugs affect the transcriptomic profile of multiple organs in hypertensive rats and the transcriptomic differences between them. We performed RNA sequencing to define the RNA expressing profiles of the eight tissues (atrium, ventricle, aorta, kidney, brain, lung, white fat, and brown fat) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and SHRs treated with ARNI or ARB.
