The reactions of a pair of enantiomers of macrocyclic nickel(II) complexes with racemic penicillamine generated two 3D hydrogen-bonded homochiral frameworks of {[Ni(f-(SS)-L)](2)(l-pends)(ClO(4))(2)}(n) (Λ-1) and {[Ni(f-(RR)-L)](2)(d-pends) (ClO(4))(2)}(n) (Δ-1). The frameworks possess 1D tubular pores and opposite right/left-handed helical porous surfaces (L = 5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane; pends(2-) = penicillaminedisulfide anion).

Two or more catalysts conducting multistep reactions in the same reactor, concurrent tandem catalysis, could enable (bio)pharmaceutical and fine chemical manufacturing to become much more sustainable. Herein we report that co-immobilization of metal nanoparticles and a biocatalytic system within a synthetic covalent organic framework capsule, COFcap-2, functions like an artificial cell in that, whereas the catalysts are trapped within 300-400 nm cavities, substrates/products can ingress/egress through ca. 2 nm windows.

As an indispensable member of the reticular material family, metal-carbon-based organometallic frameworks (OMFs) remain largely underexplored, and no chiral OMFs (COMFs) have been reported thus far. Herein, we first report the construction of COMFs from a Pd-isocyanide OMF via nucleophilic addition to the Pd-isocyanide moiety with optically pure amines. The obtained Pd-bis(acyclic diaminocarbene) (Pd-BADC)-derived chiral OMFs display excellent applicability and can be reusable chiral catalysts to highly promote asymmetric Strecker and Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions in a heterogeneous way.

Two-dimensional (2D) room-temperature chiral multiferroic and magnetic topological materials are essential for constructing functional spintronic devices, yet their number is extremely limited. Here, by using the chiral and polar HPP (HPP = 4-(3-hydroxypyridin-4-yl)pyridin-3-ol) as an organic linker and transition metals (TM = Cr, Mo, W) as nodes, we predict a class of 2D TM(HPP) organometallic nanosheets that incorporate homochirality, room-temperature magnetism, ferroelectricity, and topological nodes. The homochirality is introduced by chiral HPP linkers, and the change in structural chirality induces a topological phase transition of Weyl phonons.
