AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to analyze the levels of total polyphenols, flavonoids, and chlorogenic acid in Acer truncatum leaves throughout different months and their impact on fatty acid synthase (FAS) inhibition.
  • Using spectrophotometry, the researchers measured the chemical contents of the leaf extracts and assessed their inhibitory effects on FAS.
  • Findings indicated that while all leaves collected from May to November showed some inhibition, those from July had the highest polyphenol content and the strongest inhibitory effect on FAS, establishing a positive correlation between polyphenol levels and inhibitory efficacy.

Article Abstract

Objective: To study the dynamic variations of the contents of total polyphenols, flvonoids and chlorogenic acid from Acer truncatum leaves in different months, and their inhibitory activities on fatty acid synthase.

Methods: Spectrophotometry was used to determine the contents of total polyphenols, flavonoids and chlorogenic acid in extracts and the extracts' inhibitory effects were also investigated.

Results: All Leaves picked from May to November have inhibitory effect. But the contents of polyphenols in leaves of July appeared to be higher than other months', and consequently exhibited stronger inhibition against FAS.

Conclusion: A positive correlation between the content of polyphenols in leaves extract and the inhibitory efficacy on FAS could be established.

In addition to inducing xylem embolism, freeze-thaw events can cause frost fatigue phenomena. Freezing temperature, freezing times, number of freeze-thaw cycles and frost drought can affect the level of freeze-thaw-induced embolism, but it is unknown whether there is an effect on frost fatigue. We assessed whether these frost-related factors changed frost fatigue in the three diffuse-porous species by simulating freeze-thaw treatments under different conditions.

Stem water content serves as a pivotal parameter that reflects the plant vitality and maintains their internal water balance. Given the insufficient comprehension regarding the stem water content characteristics and its influencing factors during different stages of the overwintering period, the study focused on Acer truncatum Bunge and developed an Internet of Things (IoT)-based ecological information monitoring system. The system incorporated a proprietary stem water content sensor, allowing non-invasive, in-situ and real time acquisition of stem water content while monitoring diverse environmental parameters.
