ʟ-Carnosine is a dipeptide with notable antioxidant, antiglycation, metal chelating, and neuroprotective properties. Despite its many biological roles, applying ʟ-carnosine as a capping agent in nanoparticle synthesis has remained underexplored. This study explores the potential of ʟ-carnosine in synthesizing tunable plasmonic silver nanoparticles (ʟ-car-AgNPs).

The complex and heterogeneous nature of cancer necessitates the development of innovative multifunctional nanomedicines (MN). Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a functional carbohydrate polysaccharide that is widely used in various biomedical fields. In this study, we employed HA as a stabilizer and regulator for the synthesis of a size-tunable nanomedicine comprising ferric ions, doxorubicin, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), referred to as HDE-MN, for cancer therapy.

Silicon particles of intermediate sizes (75-200 nm) scatter visible wavelengths, making them promising candidates for optical devices. The solution synthesis of silicon particles in this size range, however, has proved challenging for chemists over the past few decades. Here, a solution-phase synthesis provides a pathway toward reaching size tunability between 45 and 230 nm via changing the reactant ratio in the reaction between a silicon Zintl phase (NaSi) with an amidinate-stabilized Si(IV) coordination complex.

Horizontal arrays of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have shown immense potential for application in emerging devices due to their excellent electrical and thermal properties. The direct growth of SWCNT arrays using high-activity metal catalysts is one of the promising methods to approach the mass production of dense SWCNT arrays. However, an inevitable obstacle lies in the post-purification of metal residual.

Quantum dot-based optical biosensors represent a significant advancement for detection of mycotoxins that are toxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi and pose serious health risk effects. This review highlights the importance of detection of filamentous fungi such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, Fusarium, Claviceps, and Alternaria in mycotoxin production, leading to contamination of agricultural products and subsequent health issues. Conventional detection methods such as thin-layer chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay are discussed with their respective advantages and limitations.
