We examined whether faces differing in attractiveness elicit positive and negative affect in 7- to 10-year-old children (N=66) and adults (N=73). Facial electromyography measured affective response. Less attractive faces evoked significantly more levator labii superioris responses in adults and children. Attractiveness was negatively correlated with corrugator supercilii activity in adults, but not significantly in children. These results suggest that less attractive faces evoke greater disgust and negative affect than more attractive faces. Perceivers' affective reactions to attractive faces may play an important role in attractiveness preferences and attractiveness stereotypes.

Growth hormone (GH)-releasing hormone (GHRH), a hypothalamic peptide initially characterized for its role in GH regulation, has gained increasing attention due to its GH-independent action on peripheral physiology, including that of the cardiovascular system. While its effects on the peripheral vasculature are still under investigation, GHRH and synthetic agonists have exhibited remarkable receptor-mediated cardioprotective properties in preclinical models. GHRH and its analogs enhance myocardial function by improving contractility, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and offsetting pathological remodeling.

Mitigating loss of genetic diversity is a major global biodiversity challenge. To meet recent international commitments to maintain genetic diversity within species, we need to understand relationships between threats, conservation management and genetic diversity change. Here we conduct a global analysis of genetic diversity change via meta-analysis of all available temporal measures of genetic diversity from more than three decades of research.

Hydrogen gas holds immense promise as a clean fuel source, yet its widespread adoption faces significant challenges in storage and transportation due to its gaseous and highly flammable nature. An increasingly attractive approach to overcoming these limitations involves reacting aluminum (Al) blocks with water to produce hydrogen, providing an alternative distribution mechanism in which Al blocks can be used as "hydrogen storage" for on-demand production at any location. However, current methods suffer poor hydrogen production rates and yields, primarily influenced by the limited contact area between Al and the catalyst, such as Ga-based room-temperature liquid metal.

Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of mankind's most common diseases with a nonspecific etiology. Lasers are gaining traction in dentistry due to their remarkable effects on pain reduction. Their convenience and lack of side effects have made them an attractive alternative to conventional interventions.

The negative effects associated with cyanobacterial blooms are of particular concern in protected ecosystems, as these areas are ecologically significant and attract a high number of visitors. This study aims to explore the cyanobacterial communities and associated toxicity in three reservoirs located within a Mediterranean National Park with a compromised situation at basin-level. Our results demonstrate the occurrence of dense toxic blooms containing microcystins (reaching values close to 280 μg L) and low levels of anatoxin-a and saxitoxins (up to 0.
