SGLT2 inhibitors are a family of drugs that were developed to treat diabetes mellitus. In randomized controlled trials, SGLT2 inhibitors seem to prevent kidney deterioration in patients with nephropathies, both diabetic and non-diabetic. However, in contrast to biochemical/physiological results (proteinuria and serum creatinine levels) that improve in all studies, the clinical results (all-cause mortality, cardiovascular death, need for dialysis, or renal transplant) do not consistently improve.

The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) contributes to retinal homeostasis, and its metabolic dysfunction is implied in the development of retinal degenerative disease. The isoform M2 of pyruvate kinase (PKM2) is a key factor in cell metabolism, and its function may be affected by insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). This study aims to investigate the effect of IGF-1 on PKM2 modulation of RPE cells and whether co-treatment with klotho may preserve it.

Monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance (MGRS) refers to a group of renal disorders caused by a monoclonal immunoglobulin (MIg), secreted by a non-malignant B-cell clone. Unlike overt multiple myeloma or B-cell proliferation, MGRS does not meet those diagnostic criteria. However, it is associated with significant morbidity, due to severe renal, and sometimes systemic, lesions induced by the MIg.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the most frequent dermatological manifestations including xerosis, pruritis and other nail, hair and oral conditions, as these are a very important aspect to be considered while managing the patients psychological and physical needs to improve their outcomes and quality of life.
Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was performed by selecting 77 patients on hemodialysis based on a certain criteria and data was then collected on a sheet using patients database on Hakeem National E-Health Program, in addition to information from interviews with patients during their hemodialysis sessions after taking an oral informed consent and insuring patients' privacy.

Wheat bran-soluble dietary fibre (WB-SDF) is known for its hypoglycaemic properties and its potential to control postprandial blood glucose levels in individuals with hyperglycaemia. However, the digestive process may alter its glucose-lowering potential. This study investigated the effects of in vitro simulated digestion on the hypoglycaemic efficacy of WB-SDF.
