This article presents the first application of gold nanoparticles deposited capillaries as pre-concentration devices for in-capillary microextraction CZE and their use for the analysis of monohydroxy-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in synthetic urine samples. The successful separation of 1-hydroxypyrene, 9-hydroxyphenanthrene, 3-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene (3-OHbap), 4-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene and 5-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene under a single set of electrophoretic conditions is demonstrated as well as the feasibility to obtain competitive ultraviolet absorption LOD with commercial instrumentation. Enrichment factors ranging from 87 (9-OHphe) to 100 (3-OHbap) made it possible to obtain LOD ranging from 9 ng/mL (9-OHphe and 3-OHbap) to 14 ng/mL (4-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene).
Interparticle ligand exchange can occur during the formation of nanoparticle superlattices (NPSLs), affecting the symmetry of the NPSLs. Here, we report time-resolved small-angle neutron scattering (TR-SANS) measurements of the interparticle exchange kinetics of thiolate ligands among gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) at different temperatures. To track the ligand exchange among AuNPs, two groups of AuNPs were functionalized with hydrogenated and deuterated dodecanethiol, respectively, and then mixed in a solvent mixture of toluene and deuterated toluene for shell contrast.
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), serves as a reliable and vital biomarker for precise diagnosis and effective monitoring of hepatocellular carcinoma, requires precise detection. Herein, a sandwich-structured electrochemical immunosensor was crafted, employing three-dimensional layered porous carbon modified with gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) as the substrate and Au NPs/CuS as the labeling compound for accurate and sensitive detection of AFP. In this study, we introduce an synthesis technique for incorporating gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) into a magnetic nanocomposite made of glucosamine and alginate (GluN/Alg) ionotropic gelation. GluN acted as a reducing agent for gold ions, leading to the formation of AuNPs which embedded in the nanocomposite FeO@GluN/Alg. Analytical techniques confirmed the crystallite structure of the nanocomposite AuNPs/FeO@GluN/Alg, which had an average size of 30-40 nm.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and porcine rotavirus (PoRV) are the two main pathogens causing porcine diarrhea, which are characterized by high morbidity and mortality. Most of the diagnostic methods available are limited to the laboratory or fail to highlight their advantages in terms of target species, detection time, sensitivity, and stability. To meet the demand for rapid on-site diagnosis of PEDV and PoRV co-infection, a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) immunochromatographic sensor based on gold magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) was developed.
