Objective: We aimed to evaluate serum adiponectin and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in the different groups of patients with angiographically defined coronary artery disease (CAD).

Methods: Overall 100 patients (80 males, 20 females) with CAD (≥ 50% stenosis) and 45 controls (25 males, 20 females) with normal coronary arteries were included in this cross-sectional observational study. Gensini score was used for evaluation of the severity of coronary lesions on the angiogram. A relationship between Gensini score and serum CRP and adiponectin levels was evaluated by a logistic regression analysis.

Results: Mean age of the patients (60.5±10.2 years) was significantly higher than of the controls (55.6±10.4 years, p=0.01). While serum adiponectin levels in CAD patients (2.1±1.2 µmg/dl) were significantly lower than in the controls (3.3±1.8 µmg/dl, p=0.01); serum CRP levels of the patients (2.8±1.5 mg/dl) were significantly higher than of the controls (0.9±0.4 mg/dl). Serum adiponectin and CRP levels were not significantly different between the CAD subgroups (p>0.05). Gensini score was related with serum CRP (odds ratio: 0.98, 95% CI: 1.05-1.35, p=0.01) and adiponectin levels (odds ratio: 1.15, 95% CI: 1.10-1.25, p=0.01) by a logistic regression analysis.

Conclusion: While serum CRP levels are increased in CAD patients comparing with the controls; serum adiponectin levels are decreased significantly. Serum CRP and adiponectin levels are related to coronary lesions severity on the angiogram.

Exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) have a substantial effect on overall disease management, health system costs, and patient outcomes. However, exacerbations are often underdiagnosed or recognized with great delay due to several factors such as patients' inability to differentiate between acute episodes and symptom fluctuations, delays in seeking medical assistance, and disparities in dyspnea perception. Self-management intervention plans, telehealth and smartphone-based programs provide educational material, counseling, virtual hospitals and telerehabilitation, and help COPD patients to identify exacerbations early.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of IgM anti-Tick-Borne Encephalitis (anti-TBE) intrathecal synthesis in the diagnosis and prediction of the clinical course of the disease. Thirty-six patients were included in the study (patients reported symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue, and nausea/vomiting). CRP, White Blood Cells (WBC), pleocytosis, Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) protein concentration, CSF albumin concentration, serum IgM, serum IgG, CSF IgM, CSF IgG, IgM Index, IgG Index, and IgG Index/IgM Index ratio were the parameters which were examined in the individuals.

: Previous studies suggest that there is a genetically determined component of fat oxidation at rest and during exercise. To date, the gene has been proposed as a candidate gene to affect fat oxidation during exercise because of the association of the "at-risk" A allele with different obesity-related factors such as increased body fat, higher appetite and elevated insulin and triglyceride levels. The A allele of the gene may also be linked to obesity through a reduced capacity for fat oxidation during exercise, a topic that remains largely underexplored in the current literature.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with relapsing nature. Estimates are that approximately 2-3% of the world's population suffers from this disease. More severe forms of psoriasis are conditions of high inflammation, which is confirmed by the clinical picture and numerous inflammatory parameters such as C-reactive protein (CRP), cytokines and homocysteine, which vary with disease activity.

: While the concept of viral community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) changed with COVID-19, the role of non-influenza viruses as a cause of CAP is less clear. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical course, risk factors, inflammatory profiles, antibiotic use, outcomes and complications of adenoviral (AdV) CAP. : A prospective, non-interventional, observational cohort study included consecutively hospitalized immunocompetent adult patients with AdV CAP during an 18-month period.
