Systematics and Evolution of Vascular Plants (UAB), Associated Unit to CSIC by IBB, Departament de Biologia Animal, Biologia Vegetal i Ecologia, Facultat de Biociències, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 08193 Bellaterra, Spain.

Colonization and diversification processes are responsible for the distinctiveness of island biotas, with Madagascar standing out as abiodiversity hotspot exceptionally rich in species and endemism. Regardless of its significance, the evolutionary history and diversification drivers of Madagascar's flora remain understudied. Here we focus on Helichrysum (Compositae, Gnaphalieae) to investigate the evolutionary and biogeographic origins of the Malagasy flora.

To offer a foundational science for the land spatial planning of Beijing Tianjin sandstorm source area, the remote sensing images of Duolun County in Inner Mongolia from 2000 to 2020 were used to obtain the spatial information of production, living and ecological space(PLES). In order to construct the index system of the carrying capacity of the PLES, 24 indicators were chosen from the perspectives of ecological space, living space, and production space. AHP method, TOPSIS Model with entropy combination weight, coupling coordination model and obstacle degree model are used to analyze the coupling coordination scheduling and obstacle degree of the PLES carrying capacity.

Article Synopsis
  • Dynamic monitoring of in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) for LNAPLs in groundwater is crucial for assessing the effectiveness of remediation efforts through measurements like spectral and time-domain induced polarization.
  • The study compares different injection strategies, revealing that a multiple-injection approach retains more oxidant in the source area compared to a single-injection method, with considerable decreases in electrical resistivity and chargeability during the ISCO process.
  • Overall, the findings lead to a conceptual model that describes pore structure changes during ISCO, showing how oxidant injection alters conductivity and reduces LNAPL levels, which allows for more precise characterization of groundwater remediation.

To elucidate the pollution characteristics and sources of heavy metals in the soil of drinking water sources in urban areas of the Yellow River Basin, the soil in the water source areas for urban drinking water in the Lanzhou section of the Yellow River was selected as the research object. The content characteristics of heavy metals, including As, Cd, Cr, Hg, and Pb, were analyzed. The pollution degree of heavy metals was quantified systematically using the geo-accumulation index, contamination factor, pollution load index, and improved Nemerow comprehensive pollution index.

Landslide susceptibility map (LSM) plays an important role in providing the knowledge of slopes prone to future landslides. However, the applicability of LSM is often hindered due to high cost of data collection especially in mountainous region such as Himalayas. Therefore, this study proposes transfer learning approach (TL) to improve the performance of LSM by transferring the information from the data rich region (source) to data scare region (target).
