Seven strains of bacteria which were separated from the active membrane on the mature manganese sand which are from different power plants. After identifying they are Leptothrix, Sphaerotilus and Siderocapsa. Studies show that the three strains of bacteria have a better removal of Fe2+, in which Siderocapsa No. 1 is the best. Leptothrix and Siderocapsa have a good removal of Mn2+ Siderocapsa No. 1 has the highest removal rate for Mn2+, Siderocapsa No. 2 is secondary. The mixture of separately cultured Leptothrix, Sphaerotilus, Siderocapsa No. 1 and Siderocapsa No. 2 which can remove iron and manganese were inoculated on the surface of manganese sand filter. Biofilm culturing with groundwater concentrations iron and manganese. The biological filter column has tended to maturate after 20d cultured. Test result indicates that the mature biological filter column can get rid of Fe2+ and Mn2+ nearly 100% and the biological filter column can run stably.

Introduction: The Longan fruit tree of the Vietnam Mekong Delta is grown in raised beds to improve water drainage during the rainy season and can live as long as 100 years.
Objective: This research explores the extent to which the soil microorganisms as well as soil physical and chemical properties of these raised beds degrade over a period of 60 years under traditional management practices.
Materials And Methods: Raised bed topsoil samples at depths of 0-20 cm were obtained from four different Longan orchards raised bed age groups: group 1) 15-25 years (L1-L5); group 2) 26-37 years (L6-L10); group 3) 38-45 years (L11-L15); and group 4) 46-60 years.

The geochemical analysis of Gafsa rock phosphate (GRP) revealed relatively high concentrations of essential plant minerals and trace heavy metals (HMs). Environmental contamination factors indicated moderate to very strong HM contamination due to GRP soil amendment. The potential use of the Serratia plymuthica BMA1 strain, which is known for its ability to solubilize GRP, to enhance mineral nutrition in Vicia faba L.

This study focused on two Mn-oxide-containing adsorbents for As(Ⅲ) removal, namely granular iron-manganese composite oxide (GFMO) and granular iron-manganese-copper composite oxide (GFMCO). The comparative experiments results demonstrated that GFMCO exhibited superior performance in As(Ⅲ) removal and a more obvious Mn(II) release compared to GFMO. Furthermore, this study explored the approaches for the control of manganese release during As(Ⅲ) removal, identifying sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) oxidation followed by manganese sand filtration as the most effective method for capturing released Mn(Ⅱ) in water.

This study investigated the influence of filter media characteristics on manganese (Mn) removal in groundwater biofilters during the start-up phase. Six pilot scale biofilters containing three different granular activated carbons (GAC), two anthracite, and one sand media were run for 133 days to examine their Mn removal performance at a drinking water utility, while also monitoring ATP and bacterial growth as indicators of biological activity. Key findings demonstrate the critical role of media characteristics, especially for GAC media.
