New graduate nurses encounter emotional distress related to complex patient care situations and overwhelming workloads. Unequipped with coping mechanisms, new nurses verbalize difficulty feeling accepted in their assigned units. Self-perceptions of inadequacy and lack of independence contribute to anxiety. Consequently, hospitals are at risk for losing newly graduated nurses within the first year. The cost of losing new nurses is overwhelming to hospital institutions and further contributes to the looming nursing shortage. This article describes the use of a reflective practice exercise in a new registered nurse residency program in a magnet hospital to facilitate reflection and problem solving in the patient care unit. More research is needed to investigate the effectiveness of reflective practice in developing coping skills and retention rate in new graduate nurses.

Introduction: Transition clinics are conceived as programs dedicated to the active, multidimensional development of a process that addresses the medical, psychosocial, educational, and vocational needs of pediatric patients suffering from a chronic disease that will persist into adulthood. Their understanding is justified in physiological, psychological, and sociocultural terms on the basis of the differential morbidity and mortality associated with a chronic disease that begins in childhood and prevails into adulthood.
Materials And Methods: Here, we reflect on the history, structure, and impact of transition clinics in pediatrics, with an emphasis on pediatric rheumatologic diseases.

Introduction: Implicit statistical learning is, by definition, learning that occurs without conscious awareness. However, measures that putatively assess implicit statistical learning often require explicit reflection, for example, deciding if a sequence is 'grammatical' or 'ungrammatical'. Background: Oral fluid contains analytes that may be reflective of health and welfare in pig herds. Additionally, oral fluid collection is a more convenient and cost-effective option when compared to blood sampling, increasing the potential of oral fluid as a non-invasive alternative tool. While a growing number of biomarkers can be measured in porcine oral fluid, the use of these analytes to compare commercial herds in veterinary practice is still limited.
