Optimizing single port surgery: a case report and review of technique in colon resection.

Published: June 2011

Background: Minimally invasive colon surgery was first described in the early 1990s, decreasing the morbidity compared with open procedures. Recently, single port laparoscopy has emerged, with reports of applications to colon surgery. Although feasible, many new technical challenges exist.

Methods: An optimal operative technique for colon resection entirely through the umbilicus, using a robot and a GelPort is described.

Results: The robotic advantages of visualization and articulation minimize the disadvantages of single incision surgery. Programming the robotic arms in reverse decreases instrument clashing. In addition, the GelPort allows for trocar spacing and freedom of placement while providing a wound protector for specimen extraction.

Conclusions: As single port surgery develops, disadvantages must be overcome. Using a combination of the robot and GelPort, these disadvantages are addressed and minimized.

Background: Single port robotic platform offers articulation and 360° camera rotation for anorectal tumour excision in a narrow pelvic space. This study assesses the clinical usefulness and outcomes of SP robotic transanal surgery.

Methods: Nine patients who underwent transanal excision using the SP robotic platform were included.

In this article an 8-port annular ring-shaped MIMO antenna for 5G and 5G advanced applications is presented. An annular ring on the radiating plane and novel isolator structure on the ground plane are etched over a Rogers RT/Duorid (5870 tm) substrate to achieve high performance antenna for mm wave applications. A systematic study is performed, and an optimized single port antenna (Design-4) is selected among Designs (1-4).

Provide real-world data on switching from adalimumab biosimilar MSB11022 to GP2017 related to persistence, adherence, and safety in adult patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). Retrospective cohort study that used registries and medical records from a single hospital (June 2022 to April 2024). Adult patients with RA, PsA, and axSpA treated with adalimumab biosimilar MSB11022 who switched to biosimilar GP2017 were identified and followed up until April 2024, or disenrollment.

Micellar liquid chromatography (MLC) has proven beneficial efficiency and ecological impact for routine quality control activities. In the proposed study, cyrene was investigated for the first time, together with other green additives, as a novel safe organic solvent in reversed-phase MLC. Quality-by-design (QbD) approach screened their effect on the separation performance.

Objective: To determine the learning curve for double-port video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) lung segmentectomy performed by the same surgical team in our center.

Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical data from 193 patients who underwent double-port video-assisted thoracoscopic lung segmentectomy from March 2017 to March 2023. The operative time (OT) was analyzed using the cumulative sum (CUSUM) method, and two stages of the learning curve were obtained.
