The first neutron fibre diffraction studies of an amyloid system are presented. The techniques used to prepare the large samples needed are described, as well as the procedures used to isotopically replace H2O in the sample by D2O. The results demonstrate the feasibility of this type of approach for the pursuit of novel structural analyses that will strongly complement X-ray fibre diffraction studies and probe aspects of amyloid structure that to date have remained obscure. The approach is demonstrated using an amyloid form of the peptide NSGAITIG, but is equally applicable for the study of other systems such as Alzheimer's Aβ peptide.

Wool is the most widely used proteinic natural fiber in the clothing industry by virtue of its versatile properties. Unfortunately, wool, as a natural fiber, is more susceptible to attack by microorganisms and moths, which may cause harm to the fiber and human health. That is why the antimicrobial and mothproof finishing of natural textiles is of prime importance to the textile and clothing industry.

Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) is a widely produced bio-based polymer known for its biodegradability and renewability, but its brittleness, low heat resistance, and weak mechanical properties limit its broader use. To address these challenges, TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNF) were extracted from dissolving pulp using TEMPO oxidation and high-pressure homogenization. These TOCNF were modified with silane to reduce hydrophilicity and improve compatibility with PLA.

The importance of developing multifunctional nanomaterials for sensing technologies is increasing with the arrival of nanotechnology. In this study, we describe the introduction of novel nanoprobe electro-active material into the architecture of an electrochemical immuno-sensor. Based on the electrochemical immuno-sensor, functionalized tin oxide/graphitic carbon nitride nanocomposite (fSnO/g-CN) was synthesized and then analyte specific anti-aflatoxin M monoclonal antibody (AFM-ab) combined to form an electro-active nanoprobe (fSnO/g-CN/AFM-ab).

Currently, high-salt diets have become one of the world's biggest dietary crisis and long-term high-salt diets are seriously detrimental to human health. In response to this situation, the present study proposed a saltiness enhancement strategy using alginate, which is a dietary fibre from brown algae and has many health benefits, such as regulating intestinal microbiota, anti-hypertension and anti-obesity. The comparison of alginates with different viscosities showed that alginate of 1000-1500 cps at a concentration of 1.
