Human ANP32A/B are SUMOylated and utilized by avian influenza virus NS2 protein to overcome species-specific restriction.

Nat Commun

December 2024

State Key Laboratory for Animal Disease Control and Prevention, Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Harbin, China.

Human ANP32A/B (huANP32A/B) poorly support the polymerase activity of avian influenza viruses (AIVs), thereby limiting interspecies transmission of AIVs from birds to humans. The SUMO-interacting motif (SIM) within NS2 promotes the adaptation of AIV polymerase to huANP32A/B via a yet undisclosed mechanism. Here we show that huANP32A/B are SUMOylated by the E3 SUMO ligase PIAS2α, and deSUMOylated by SENP1.

Association of CASP8 rs3834129 and CTGF rs6918698 genotypes with susceptibility to colorectal cancer in a Mexican population.

Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand)

November 2024

División de Medicina Molecular, Centro de Investigación Biomédica de Occidente, Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.

Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and Caspase 8 (CASP8) have been implicated in cancer development and progression. Variants such as CASP8 rs3834129 (-652 6N I/D) and CTGF rs6918698 (-945 C>G) have been associated with several cancers, although their association is still debated between populations. This study investigates the possible association between the CASP8 rs3834129 and CTGF rs6918698 variants with  colorectal cancer (CRC) in Mexican patients.

Research suggests that cathepsins, due to their extensive mechanisms of action, may play a crucial role in cardiomyopathies. However, further studies are necessary to establish causality. This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between cathepsins and various types of cardiomyopathies.

Objective: This systematic review aimed to analyze the literature on changes in endogenous salivary biomarkers of pain, anxiety, stress, and inflammation related to tooth movement during orthodontic treatment of children and adolescents.

Material And Methods: An electronic search was performed in nine databases to identify quasi-experimental studies, without restricting publication language and year. Two reviewers extracted the data and assessed the individual risk of bias using the JBI tools, and the certainty of evidence using the GRADE tool.

A type II secreted subtilase from commensal rhizobacteria cleaves immune elicitor peptides and suppresses flg22-induced immune activation.

Plant roots grow in association with a community of microorganisms collectively known as the rhizosphere microbiome. Immune activation in response to elicitors like the flagellin-derived epitope flg22 restricts bacteria on plant roots but also inhibits plant growth. Some commensal root-associated bacteria are capable of suppressing the plant immune response to elicitors.
