Purpose: The characteristics and natural history of the paclitaxel-acute pain syndrome (P-APS) and paclitaxel's more chronic neuropathy have not been well delineated.
Methods: Patients receiving weekly paclitaxel (70 to 90 mg/m(2)) completed daily questionnaires and weekly European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) -20 instruments during the entire course of therapy.
Results: P-APS symptoms peaked 3 days after chemotherapy. Twenty percent of patients had pain scores of 5 to 10 of 10 with the first dose of paclitaxel. Sensory neuropathy symptoms were more prominent than were motor or autonomic neuropathy symptoms. Of the sensory neuropathy symptoms, numbness and tingling were more prominent than was shooting or burning pain. Patients with higher P-APS pain scores with the first dose of paclitaxel appeared to have more chronic neuropathy.
Conclusion: These data support that the P-APS is related to nerve pathology as opposed to being arthralgias and/or myalgias. Numbness and tingling are more prominent chronic neuropathic symptoms than is shooting or burning pain.

This study reports a rare case of referred pain in the trigeminal nerve distribution caused by entrapment of the greater occipital nerve (GON). Notably, the pain extended to the ipsilateral tongue, an unusual intraoral involvement. GON entrapment can lead to sensitization in secondary nociceptive neurons within the trigeminocervical complex (TCC), which receives signals from both trigeminal and occipital nerves, causing referred facial pain.

Introduction: Raga County is an onchocerciasis-endemic area in the Western Bahr El Ghazal state of South Sudan, known to have a high prevalence of blindness. The objective of this study was to determine the causes of eye disease and blindness in Raga County as well as to assess the relationship of eye diseases with other prevalent conditions like onchocerciasis and epilepsy.
Methods: We reviewed unpublished pre-community directed treatment with ivermectin (CDTI) data about eye disease and onchocerciasis in Western Bahr El Ghazal including Raga.

A 40-year-old man presented to our hospital with subacute progressive muscle weakness in the limbs and leukocytosis. Subsequently, the patient was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) complicated by peripheral motor neuron neuropathy (axonopathy). Serology test for anti-ganglioside GM2 IgG antibody was positive, whereas paraneoplastic syndrome-related and anti-myelin-associated glycoprotein antibodies were not detected.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most frequent endocrinopathies in the medical routine, appearing across different specialties. Although neurological involvement in the form of peripheral neuropathy is the most recurrent form acknowledged by physicians, the spectrum of neurological involvement can be more diverse. Here, we present a case of diabetic striatopathy, a rare neurological manifestation of diabetes mellitus with poor metabolic control, in a patient whose epidemiological group was not classically.
