Background: The aim of the study is to identify the potential risk factors for postoperative AKI in hip fracture patients.
Design And Methods: Using our local neck of femur (NOF) registration data, patient details were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Electronic records of patients were assessed retrospectively, including blood results, radiological investigations, clinical documentation, and drug charts.

Background Cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) remains a significant complication following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), affecting 22%-30% of patients. This study evaluates the efficacy of NephroCheck, a biomarker-based test measuring insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2 (TIMP2), in predicting postoperative AKI. Methods In this retrospective observational cohort study, 21 patients undergoing isolated CABG were analyzed.

A 31-year-old male patient with a history of sickle cell disease (SCD) with stage V chronic kidney disease (CKD) presented for a deceased donor kidney transplant. During surgery, the transplanted kidney showed mottling and limited cortical flow, raising concerns for an intraoperative sickle cell crisis versus hyperacute rejection. Postoperative imaging revealed decreased vascularity, and the patient was treated with RBC exchange.

Background: Limited studies have suggested an effect of dietary choline intake on uric acid levels. We aim to investigate the associations between choline intake and hyperuricemia (HUA), as well as the mediating role of kidney function in this relationship, among the Chinese population aged 6-17 years.
Methods: Participants were divided into quartiles according to residual energy-adjusted dietary choline intake in our cross-sectional study.

Aims: While electrolyte depletion is known to occur during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with extracorporeal circulation, little is known about the frequency of potassium disturbances following either on- or off-pump CABG and its association with mortality. We examined the frequency of potassium disturbances and the association of plasma potassium with mortality risk in patients following CABG.
Methods And Results: From Danish National Registries, we identified 6123 adult patients (≥18 years old) undergoing first-time CABG, and who had a registered potassium measurement within 14 days before and 7 days after their surgery between 1995 and 2018.
