Published: September 2010

Objective: To evaluate maternal and perinatal outcome in nulliparious women complicated with pregnancy hypertension.

Methods: This descriptive-analytic and case-control study was performed on 100 hypertensive and 100 normotensive nulliparious women who were referred to Imam Reza hospital in 2008. They were compared for maternal and perinatal outcomes. The data was analyzed by SPSS software. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

Results: In this study, there were no significant differences in maternal age, menstruation condition, delivery mode, placental detachment rate between the studied groups. Gestational age was significantly lower in the case group, especially in severe preeclampsia subgroup (P < 0.001). Serum creatinine level more than 1.2 mg/dl was significantly higher in mild and severe preeclampsia groups (P = 0.018). Significant differences were found in neonatal APGAR, need of rescusitation, NICU admission, birth weight and length, LBW and intrauterine growth retardation between the studied groups.

Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that maternal and foetal-neonatal complications mostly appear in pregnancy complicated with induced hypertension especially in severe preeclampsia.

This study aimed to create a risk prediction model with artificial intelligence (AI) to identify patients at higher risk of postpartum hemorrhage using perinatal characteristics that may be associated with later postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in twin pregnancies that underwent cesarean section. The study was planned as a retrospective cohort study at University Hospital. All twin cesarean deliveries were categorized into two groups: those with and without PPH.

Department of Maternity and Neonatal Nursing, School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Aksum University, Aksum, Tigray, Ethiopia.

Background: A preterm neonate is defined by the World Health Organization as a child delivered before 37 weeks of gestation. In low- and middle-income countries, including Ethiopia, preterm-related complications are serious health problems due to increases in the mortality and morbidity of newborns and children under 5 years of age. The aim of this study was to assess the time to neonatal mortality and its predictors among preterm neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit in northern Ethiopia, 2023/2024.

Background: Perinatal growth and nutrition have been shown to be determinants in the programming of different tissues, such as adipose tissue, predisposing individuals to metabolic alterations later in life. Previous studies have documented an increased risk of metabolic disturbances and low-grade inflammation in prepubertal children with a history of extrauterine growth restriction (EUGR). The aim of this study was to evaluate possible alterations resulting from impaired growth during early childhood and their impact on young adult health.

Objective: To evaluate the frequency of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes associated with maternal obesity in a Hispanic population. We hypothesized that obesity confers a dose-dependent risk associated with these outcomes.

Study Design: This was a retrospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies delivered between 24 and 42 weeks gestation at an urban county hospital between 2013 and 2021.
