Lanthanide redox reactivity remains limited to one-electron transfer reactions due to their inability to access a broad range of oxidation states. Here, we show that multielectron reductive chemistry is achieved for ytterbium by using the tripodal tris(siloxide)arene redox-active ligand, which can store two electrons in the arene anchor. Reduction of the Yb(III) complex of the tris(siloxide)arene tripodal ligand affords the Yb(II) analogue by metal-centered reduction.

Cationic polymerization of vinyl ethers to access poly(vinyl ether) polymeric materials has been challenging due to stringent polymerization conditions and inevitable chain transfer. Herein we introduce a protocol using trifluoromethyl sulfonates to catalyze the polymerization of a series of vinyl ethers. These trifluoromethyl sulfonates are fully commercially available and can be stored under ambient conditions.

Bleeding is a leading cause of trauma deaths and surgical complications. Excessive bleeding has traditionally been treated with the transfusion of donated blood. However, the complicated logistics of sourcing and storing donated blood increases the cost and reduces the accessibility of treatment, particularly as rates of blood donation decline.

Background: In addition to the long-known antibacterial actions of neutrophils, neutrophils are recognized to have a variety of other effects and are functionally diverse. Neutrophils can either stimulate or inhibit B cells and T cells, regulate NK development and activity, augment or direct the resolution of inflammation, act as myeloid-derived suppressor cells, modulate tumour growth and metastasis and trigger autoimmune diseases. CEACAMs 1, 3, 6 and 8 are expressed on human neutrophils.

Recent incidences in Southeast Asian countries highlight the urgent need for effective risk evaluation and mitigation strategies.
Justification: Studying NiV in Southeast Asia is crucial due to the geographic and epidemiological significance that makes this region predominantly susceptible to the virus.
