Ethanol-mediated metal transfer printing (mTP) is a soft method, which allows to efficiently deposit metals onto various organic surfaces for applications in organic electronics. This simple approach in based on the stronger adhesion of the metals to the organic materials in the presence of thin ethanol layer between the metallized PDMS and the substrate due to the capillary action. Patterns with a resolution of at least 20 μm have been obtained on organic polymeric materials and photoresists without heating or applied pressure. Compared to other methods ethanol mediated mTP is considerably faster and has smaller limitations on the stamp depth. Residual silicone layer detected on the metal surface after the transfer by XPS studies has been mostly removed by UV/ozone treatment. Organic field-effect transistors (OTFTs) based on the metal electrodes deposited by mTP have been successfully fabricated and tested.

In this study, we effectively developed a catalyst-free multicomponent synthesis of 5-((2-aminothiazol-5-yl)(phenyl)methyl)-6-hydroxypyrimidine-2,4(1,3)-dione derivatives employing 2-aminothiazole, ','-dimethyl barbituric acid/barbituric acid and different aldehydes at 80 °C in an aqueous ethanol medium (1 : 1) using group-assisted purification (GAP) chemistry. The essential characteristics of this methodology include superior green credential parameters, metal-free multicomponent synthesis, faster reaction times, greater product yields, simple product purification without column chromatography and higher product yields. All of the synthesized compounds were analyzed against the HepG2 cell line.

Here, an ethanol-mediated method was introduced to fabricate γ-cyclodextrin-based metal-organic frameworks (γ-CD-MOFs) as microcarriers for epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). Through adjusting ethanol gas diffusion temperature and ethanol liquid feed speed, we achieved control of crystallization efficiency and crystals size without extra surfactants. Under the sequential regulatory by ethanol in two phases, the obtained γ-CD-MOFs with cubic shape exhibited excellent crystallinity, high surface area, and uniform size distribution.

Biomass ethanol is regarded as a renewable resource but it is not economically viable to transform it to high-value industrial chemicals at present. Herein, a simple, green, and low-cost CuCl-ethanol complex is reported for ethanol dehydration to produce ethylene and acetal simultaneously with high selectivity under sunlight irradiation. Under N atmosphere, the generation rates of ethylene and acetal were 165 and 3672 μmol g h, accounting for 100% in gas products and 97% in liquid products, respectively.

Halide electrolytes are rising stars among inorganic solid-state electrolytes due to their high ionic conductivity and good compatibility with high-voltage electrodes. However, their traditional synthesis methods including ball-milling annealing are usually energy-intensive and time-consuming compared with liquid-mediated routes. Regardless of its aetiology, sustained intracellular Ca overload is a well-known hallmark of acute pancreatitis (AP). Toxic Ca elevation induces pancreatic ductal cell damage characterized by impaired ion and fluid secretion - essential to wash out the protein-rich fluid secreted by acinar cells while maintaining the alkaline intra-ductal pH under physiological conditions - and mitochondrial dysfunction. While prevention of ductal cell injury decreases the severity of AP, no specific drug target has yet been identified in the ductal cells.
