A 32x32 Sb-based Geiger-mode (GM) avalanche photodiode array, operating at 2 μm with three-dimensional imaging capability, is presented. The array is interfaced with a ROIC (readout integrated circuit) in which each pixel can detect a photon and record the arrival time. The hybridized unit for the 1000-element focal plane array, when operated at 77K with 1 V overbias range, shows an average dark count rate of 1.5 kHz. Three-dimensional range images of objects were acquired.

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) is recognized as a promiscuous legume in its symbiotic relationships with rhizobia, capable of forming associations with a wide range of bacterial species. Our study focused on assessing the diversity of bacterial strains present in cowpea nodules when inoculated with soils from six indigenous lands of Mato Grosso do Sul state, Central-Western Brazil, comprising the Cerrado and the Pantanal biomes, which are known for their rich diversity. The DNA profiles (BOX-PCR) of 89 strains indicated great genetic diversity, with 20 groups and 23 strains occupying single positions, and all strains grouped at a final similarity level of only 25%.

A complex-valued neural process method, combined with modal depth functions (MDFs) of the ocean waveguide, is proposed to reconstruct the acoustic field. Neural networks are used to describe complex Gaussian processes, modeling the distribution of the acoustic field at different depths. The network parameters are optimized through a meta-learning strategy, preventing overfitting under small sample conditions (sample size equals the number of array elements) and mitigating the slow reconstruction speed of Gaussian processes (GPs), while denoising and interpolating sparsely distributed acoustic field data, generating dense field data for virtual receiver arrays.

New approaches to microbiology education are needed to ensure equitable representation in microbiology and to build literacy in microbiology and science broadly. To address this goal, we developed a course held at the collegiate level that uniquely integrated microbiology, Indigenous studies, science and technology studies, and arts and performance. The course participants included students in 12 majors across science, engineering, humanities, and arts.

Faraday cages are extensively utilized in plasma-based etching and deposition processes to regulate ion behavior due to their shielding effect on electromagnetic fields. Herein, vertical silicon nanopillar arrays are fabricated through SF and O reactive ion etching. By incorporation of a Faraday cage in the plasma equipment, the impact of the Faraday cage on the morphology of the silicon nanopillars is analyzed; the Faraday cage blocks out the sputtered particles and eradicates the formation of silicon nanograss.

Background: Night shift work during pregnancy has been associated with differential DNA methylation in placental tissue, but no studies have explored this association in cord blood. We aimed to examine associations of maternal night shift work with cord blood DNA methylation.
Methods: A total of 4487 mother-newborn pairs from 7 studies were included.
