Article Abstract

The aim of the study was to estimate dietary intake of lycopene by the group of 100 women aged 19-81 years from Central Poland and assess the influence of selected lifestyle factors on the intake of carotenoid. The study was carried out in the year 2006 (June-July) with the use of 4-day dietary food records. The mean intake of lycopene was 4.51 mg/person/ day. In the present study a statistically significant relationships were not found between lycopene intake and age, place of dwelling, level of education, occupation, smoking status, alcohol drinking and coffee consumption, level of physical activity or BMI categories. However, some relations were observed e.g. the elderly, people living in big cities (over 100.000 inhabitants), people with higher level of education or physical activity and people with lower BMI categories consumed more lycopene in daily food rations.
