The concepts of pharmaceutical care are distinctively different from the responsibilities of dispensing pharmacists and in accordance with the standards of practice of other professionals in the health care system. By taking direct responsibility for individual patient's medication-related needs, pharmacists can make unique contribution to the outcome of medication therapy and to their patients' quality of life. If the pharmacists are to contribute effectively to the new patient-centered pharmaceutical practice they must have the opportunity to acquire the new knowledge and skills required for their new role. To do this they must become life-long learners, one of the roles of the new pharmacist. Therefore, an important outcome for pharmacy education is to perform graduates capable to provide patient-centered pharmaceutical services. The purpose of this paper is to stimulate reflection on the relevance of teaching patient-centered care to pharmacy students, consistent with the practice of pharmaceutical care as a current trend in the pharmacy practice.

Research from the United States has advocated for sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) information capture via the electronic medical record (EMR) to support the generation of knowledge regarding SGM people's healthcare needs and the appropriate care for this population. In November 2022, The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) enabled the SOGI capture EMR functionality.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate whether a blended learning course improves medical students' communication skills compared to a face-to-face only lecture.
Methods: After completing a face-to-face lecture on communication skills, 2nd year medical students were gender-matched and randomized to either an intervention receiving an interactive video-based online learning module covering the content of the previous lecture and including a knowledge assessment or a control group only receiving a knowledge assessment. The primary endpoint was students' knowledge about communication techniques assessed by a predefined score from 0 to 100.

The development of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has allowed for improved glycemic control among patients with diabetes. Clinical pharmacists possess medication expertise and can provide support for increased CGM utilization through device education and affordability assistance, but there is limited evidence evaluating the effectiveness of clinical pharmacist-assisted CGM initiation. The objective of this study was to examine how clinical pharmacist-assisted CGM implementation can impact glycemic control for patients with diabetes.
