A powerful method in the analysis of datasets where there are many natural clusters with varying statistics such as different sizes, shapes, density distribution, overlaps, etc., is the use of self-organizing maps (SOMs). However, further processing tools, such as visualization and interactive clustering, are often necessary to capture the clusters from the learned SOM knowledge. A recent visualization scheme (CONNvis) and its interactive clustering utilize the data topology for SOM knowledge representation by using a connectivity matrix (a weighted Delaunay graph), CONN. In this paper, we propose an automated clustering method for SOMs, which is a hierarchical agglomerative clustering of CONN. We determine the number of clusters either by using cluster validity indices or by prior knowledge on the datasets. We show that, for the datasets used in this paper, data-topology-based hierarchical clustering can produce better partitioning than hierarchical clustering based solely on distance information.

In contrast to blood-oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) functional MRI (fMRI), which relies on changes in blood flow and oxygenation levels to infer brain activity, diffusion fMRI (DfMRI) investigates brain dynamics by monitoring alterations in the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of water. These ADC changes may arise from fluctuations in neuronal morphology, providing a distinctive perspective on neural activity. The potential of ADC as an fMRI contrast (ADC-fMRI) lies in its capacity to reveal neural activity independently of neurovascular coupling, thus yielding complementary insights into brain function.

Among a sample of 1470 students, complete data were available for 1383 participants, while 87 cases had missing data. Objectives: Tooth dimensions typically scale with mandibular and postcranial size in primates, although the exact pattern of scaling varies. This study assesses whether correlations by tissue type, anatomical region, or function (mastication or intrasexual competition) are present and could therefore act as evolutionary constraints on tooth-jaw-body size relationships by estimating genetic and phenotypic correlations between dental, mandibular, and postcranial dimensions in rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta).
Materials And Methods: The teeth, mandibles, and postcrania of 362 adults from the Cayo Santiago skeletal collection were measured.
