Objective: To research the effects of Erigeron breviscapus injection (EBI) on TNF-alpha, PAI-1 and tPA in rats with acute myocardial infarction.

Methods: Models of acute myocardial infarction (AMI)were produced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery, then rats were randomly divided into control and experimental groups, then respectively gavaged NS, and the low, middle and high dosage of EBI for one week. The cardiac function index and the expression of TNF-alpha, tPA and PAI-1 were measured.

Results: Compared with the NS group, the cardiac function LVEDP, MAP, LVPmax, +/- dp/dt of AMI rat was improved by EBI in all dosage range, and the expression of TNF-alpha and PAI-1, LVEDP were decreased (P < 0.05), the expression of tPA, MAP, LVPmax and +/- dp/dt were increased obviously (P < 0.05) and had a dose-effect relationship.

Conclusion: EBI can inhibit the expression of TNF-alpha and PAI-1, increase the expression of tPA,which can prevent the ongoing thrombopoiesis after AMI and improve the cardiac function. This maybe attributes to the inhibition of the overexpression of TNF-alpha.

Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a complex, multifactorial condition characterized by risk factors such as abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and hypertension, which significantly contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), the leading cause of death worldwide. Early identification and effective monitoring of MetS is crucial for preventing serious cardiovascular complications. This article provides a comprehensive overview of various biomarkers associated with MetS, including lipid profile markers (triglyceride/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio and apolipoprotein B/apolipoprotein A1 (ApoB/ApoA1) ratio), inflammatory markers (interleukin 6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1), C-reactive protein (CRP), leptin/adiponectin ratio, omentin and fetuin-A/adiponectin ratio), oxidative stress markers (lipid peroxides, protein and nucleic acid oxidation, gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), uric acid) and microRNAs (miRNAs) such as miR-15a-5p, miR5-17-5p and miR-24-3p.

Background Synaptic loss is an important factor in Alzheimer disease (AD); however, blood assays that conveniently and rapidly reflect changes in synaptic density are lacking. Purpose To correlate multiple potential synaptic blood markers with synaptic density measured using F-SynVesT-1, a fluorine 18 (F)-labeled radiotracer, brain PET and to explore the independent associations between these markers and synaptic density. Materials and Methods This prospective study included 50 cognitively unimpaired (mean age, 65.

This study examines Dabigatran's (Dab) capacity to mitigate methotrexate (MTX)-induced coagulation disorders and endothelial dysfunction, while exploring its effects on oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways (NF-kB/IL-1β/MCP-1, TLR4/NLRP3) in reducing hepatotoxicity. Rats were assigned to four groups: a control group receiving saline intraperitoneally (i.p.

Article Synopsis
  • The Huashi Baidu Formula (HBF) shows promise in treating COVID-19 and may have protective effects on acute kidney injury (AKI), though further research is needed to clarify its mechanisms.
  • A study assessed HBF's effects on AKI using a mouse model and employed various biochemical and molecular analyses to uncover its potential benefits and active ingredients.
  • Results indicated that HBF treatment significantly improved kidney function and reduced markers of inflammation and damage, while also enhancing protective factors in the kidneys.

Sepsis remains an important healthcare challenge. The lungs are often affected in sepsis, resulting in acute lung injury characterized by inflammation. Mechanisms involving lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation of toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling with induction of proinflammatory pathways have been implicated in this process.
