Published: May 1992

After some considerations about the particular situation of pediatric departments within the global context of the medical education, the authors discuss the graduate teaching of Social and Preventive Pediatrics (primary care), as carried out by the Department of Pediatrics, University of São Paulo Medical School. The following aspects are emphasized: locals or areas of training, academic programs, human resources, duration of training and it's time schedule, number of students and evaluation of the related social and preventive pediatric courses. They conclude pointing to the importance of these courses having in view the terminal performance of the undergraduate students after 1.155 hours of apprenticeship under the supervision of the Department of Pediatrics.

Phase-Engineered Bi-RuO Single-Atom Alloy Oxide Boosting Oxygen Evolution Electrocatalysis in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer.

Adv Mater

Engineering nanomaterials at single-atomic sites can enable unprecedented catalytic properties for broad applications, yet it remains challenging to do so on RuO-based electrocatalysts for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer (PEMWE). Herein, the rational design and construction of Bi-RuO single-atom alloy oxide (SAAO) are presented to boost acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER), via phase engineering a novel hexagonal close packed (hcp) RuBi single-atom alloy. This Bi-RuO SAAO electrocatalyst exhibits a low overpotential of 192 mV and superb stability over 650 h at 10 mA cm, enabling a practical PEMWE that needs only 1.

Background: The increasing number of institutionalized older individuals worldwide stresses the need to evaluate the association between the functional profile of institutionalized older adults and their quality of life (QoL), depressive symptoms and feelings of loneliness.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 19 residential facilities in Alentejo, Portugal. Between March and September 2023, all individuals aged ≥65 years were invited to complete a structured questionnaire ( = 1303).

Article Synopsis
  • Primary liver cancers, like HCC, ICC, and cHCC-CCA, are major causes of cancer-related deaths, and distinguishing between these types can be challenging due to their similar features.
  • This study analyzed 140 patients who had liver tumor resections, reclassifying tumors and comparing the clinicopathological characteristics and survival rates of HCC, ICC, and cHCC-CCA.
  • The results showed that most patients had HCC, with worse overall survival and disease-free survival for ICC and cHCC-CCA, highlighting the need for careful evaluation to identify cholangiolar components, which signal a poorer prognosis.
