The population of older adults in India is projected to increase from the current estimate of 150 million to 350 million by the year 2050. The prevalence of older adults with mental health problems including dementia is also increasing rapidly. The socio-cultural changes in the joint family system have necessitated the increasing requirement of formal caregivers for supporting the care of older adults in home as well as residential care institutions.

Mitochondria are organelles involved in different cellular functions, especially energy production. A relationship between mitochondrial dysfunction and mood disorders, especially bipolar disorder (BD), has been reported in the scientific literature, which suggests altered energy production and higher levels of oxidative stress compared to healthy controls. Specifically, in BD, the hypothesis of a biphasic pattern of energy availability has been postulated according to mood states.

This perspective article explores the importance of fostering interest in gastroenterology among medical students and addressing the barriers that deter them from pursuing careers in this specialty. The paper highlights the critical role of early exposure to research, specialized electives, and mentorship in encouraging students to consider gastroenterology as a career choice. Current challenges include limited access to specialized electives and research opportunities within UK medical schools, inadequate hands-on experience, and a perceived lack of stability and control over future training pathways.

Objective: Psychological stress has long been posited as a potential risk factor for breast cancer. We aimed to examine the relationship between occupational stress and the incidence of invasive breast cancer among postmenopausal women from the Women's Health Initiative Observational Study.
Method: Occupational stress was characterized through linkage of Standard Occupational Classification codes for participants' jobs to the Occupational Information Network.
