Introduction: The separation of nickel-titanium endodontic instruments due to excessive torque adversely affects treatment outcomes. Previous studies have analyzed torque values under static conditions and failed to accurately simulate the dynamic conditions of instruments within root canals. This study aimed to apply a novel finite element analysis (FEA) to assess the real-time dynamic performance of nickel-titanium endodontic instruments during operation in root canals.

Dental implants have revolutionized tooth replacement, offering a functional and aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional dentures and bridges. While conventional implants, typically titanium screws placed into the jawbone, have become the gold standard, many studies explore non-conventional implant designs and materials to address specific challenges and patient needs. This series of literature reviews aimed to delve into non-conventional dental implants, examining their unique features and applications and the current state of evidence supporting their use.

Comparison of radiographic imaging quality/accuracy using photostimulable phosphor plates and metal oxide semiconductor receptors.

J Dent Educ

December 2024

Instituto de Odontoestomatología, Escuela de Odontología, Facultad de Medicina, Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia, Chile.

Aim: To compare thequality and accuracy of radiographic images obtained by dentistry students from a Chilean university using photostimulable phosphor plates (PSP) and complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) receptors.

Materials And Methods: An experimental study was carried out in which 31 dental students used PSP and CMOS receptors to acquire radiographic images with the aid of a phantom. The time required to generate a radiograph was recorded.

Department of Prosthodontics, Shanghai Stomatological Hospital and School of Stomatology, Fudan University. Shanghai 200001, China. E-mail:

Purpose: To evaluate the preclinical teaching effects of digital virtual simulation system applied in window-type veneer tooth preparation of undergraduate dental students.

Methods: In the early clinical exposure of five-year undergraduate students from School of Stomatology, Fudan University, Simodont virtual simulation system and conventional phantom-simulator system were alternatively used in the preclinical teaching of veneer tooth preparation. First, after theoretical training and tests of veneer tooth preparation, twenty-three students were randomly divided into two groups.

Purpose: To compare the trueness of the tissue surface of the complete denture base among the digital cutting complete denture, the digital 3D printing complete denture and the conventional complete denture.

Methods: Three edentulous patients were selected, and three complete dentures were made for each case. Cutting dentures (cutting group), 3D printed dentures(printing group) were considered as the experimental groups, traditional dentures (traditional group) were considered as the control group.
