Health implications of established and emerging stressors: design of the prospective New Jersey Population Health Cohort (NJHealth) Study.

Introduction: Some stressors, like the death of a partner, are common and rigorously studied, while others, such as those related to climate change or social media, are just emerging and in need of systematic research. The New Jersey Population Health Cohort (NJHealth) Study aims to characterise established and emerging stressors and delineate the pathways through which they influence health, especially among groups likely to experience chronic exposure to stressors including immigrants, people of colour, multigenerational families and low-income families.
Methods And Analysis: A prospective cohort, the NJHealth Study is recruiting 8000 NJ residents aged 14 and older using probabilistic and purposive methods to include members of multigenerational families, marginalised racial/ethnic and low-income populations, and recent immigrant groups.

Background: Phase II trials and subgroup analyses of clinical studies suggest that bevacizumab plus an oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy doublet is effective and tolerable in fit older patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).
Objective: To evaluate the influence of age on the incidence of side effects and efficacy of this combination in patients with mCRC randomized in the prospective phase III OBELICS study.
Methods: In total, 230 patients with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status (PS) 0 out of 1 were retrieved on the basis of age (190 < 70 years and 40 ≥ 70 years).

Background: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a motor neuron disease with loss of musculature, which is replaced by fat. Previous magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies have focused on imaging muscles either in lower or upper extremities, but whole-body MRI can provide additional information on the involvement pattern. This study examined whole-body muscle fat replacement and the relationship between muscle structure, function, and bulbar symptoms.

Purpose: Existing prognostic staging systems depend on expensive manual extraction by pathologists, potentially overlooking latent patterns critical for prognosis, or use black-box deep learning models, limiting clinical acceptance. This study introduces a novel deep learning-assisted paradigm that complements existing approaches by generating interpretable, multi-view risk scores to stratify prognostic risk in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients.
Methods: 510 HCC patients were enrolled in an internal dataset (SYSUCC) as training and validation cohorts to develop the Hybrid Deep Score (HDS).
