This review summarizes the current research advances and guideline updates in neurocritical care. For the therapy of ischemic stroke, the extended treatment time window for thrombectomy and the emergence of novel thrombolytic agents and strategies have brought greater hope for patient recovery. Introduction: Non-surgical management of non-neurological thoracic or lumbar spine (TL) fractures seems to provide good results in the civilian population, leading to return to work in most cases. However, data on the military population are limited, particularly regarding return to duty. This study aimed to describe a population of French military patients with traumatic non-neurological TL fractures and the outcomes of non-surgical management regarding operational capacity.

Fractures of the thoracic (Th) and lumbar (L) vertebrae are among the most frequent fracture entities in Germany and particularly affect the thoracolumbar junction (TLJ; Th11-L2). Based on expert recommendations and consensus meetings, the thoracolumbar AOSpine injury score was established for patients with healthy bone and the osteoporotic fracture (OF) score for geriatric patients with the respective classifications for treatment decisions. In both cohorts, the treatment decision is based on the fracture morphology, neurological status and patient-specific contextual factors.

There is currently no cure or disease-modifying treatment for post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). This study aims to assess the efficacy of dimethyl fumarate (DMF), a US-FDA approved drug for multiple sclerosis, as a treatment for PTOA. PTOA was induced in male Lewis rats by medial meniscal transection (MMT) surgery, and DMF was intra-articularly administered once, one week following surgery.

: The diagnosis of meningitis is based on microbiological analysis of the cerebrospinal fluid, and the evaluation of cytosis and biochemical parameters such as protein and glucose levels. Sometimes when there is a traumatic lumber puncture, the cerebrospinal fluid is bloody, which makes it difficult to diagnose. The objective of the study was to examine the performance of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) procalcitonin (PCT) and lactate as potential markers for the diagnosis of meningitis in neonates.
