Objectives: To estimate the association among knee pain and central obesity.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in Salvador, Brazil, with a sample of 2,297 individuals ≥20 years of age. A standardized questionnaire was applied at home to collect data about pain, sociodemographic characteristics and abdominal circumference measurement. Unadjusted (bivariate analysis) and adjusted odds ratio (OR) and 95%CI were estimated by using backward stepwise logistic regression.
Results: The prevalence of knee pain was found in 11.2% of the studied sample. Unadjusted OR associations (P<0.1) were found for male (OR 2.70, CI [confidence interval] 2.01-3.63), older age (OR 2.98, CI 1.89-4.42), and obesity (OR 1.62, CI 1.22-2.15). Adjusted ORs (P<0.05) were found for obesity-married individuals (OR 4.69, CI 1.09-20.11), separated (OR 11.03, CI 2.09-58.20) or widowed (OR 7.17, CI 1.40-36.61), and male (OR 2.35, CI 1.25-4.41). The OR of nonobese men was 2.66, CI 1.74-4.06, but being married seems to protect them of knee pain (OR 0.66, CI 0.45-0.96).
Conclusion: In this study, we found a knee pain prevalence of 11.2% and positive association with the male gender, married, separated or widowed, and a protective association for knee pain in nonobese married male. Aging, obesity, and excessive alcohol consumption were independent correlates of knee pain in the studied population sample.

Background: Tranexamic acid is an anti-fibrinolytic agent routinely used during hip and knee joint replacement surgery to minimize bleeding. Chronic kidney disease is a common chronic health problem seen among adults requiring major arthroplasty surgery. Tranexamic acid is renally cleared and may accumulate in chronic kidney disease.

Purpose: To investigate the failure rate, predictive factors associated with failure and clinical outcomes after a two-stage surgery; meniscus repair followed by subsequent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR).
Methods: Patients with a concomitant traumatic meniscus tear and ACL injury who underwent a two-stage surgery between January 2015 and January 2021 were identified. The primary outcome was meniscal repair failure, defined as a reoperation (re-repair or resection).
Objective: To describe the utility of a tricompartmental offloading knee brace as an adjunct intervention for managing persistent PFP conditions.
Clinical Features: Three cases of active adult females with persistent PFP following non-response to conventional and guideline aligned management strategies are presented.
Intervention And Outcomes: Patients were managed using a tricompartmental offloading knee brace alongside individualized exercise programs for up to 12 weeks.

Objectives: To explore the acute intervention effects of tissue flossing on chronic knee pain (CKP) in boxers.
Methods: Eighteen boxers with CKP (12 male/6 female) were randomly divided into an experimental group (EG) with tissue flossing (n = 9) and a control group (CG) (n = 9). The visual analog scale (VAS), Lysholm knee function score, flexion range of motion (ROM), maximal isometric extensor muscle strength, and stability of the knee were measured pre- and post-intervention (EG: 3-minute tissue flossing, CG: rest).

Background And Objective: Yttrium-90 plays a significant role in managing drug-resistant inflammatory arthritis through radionuclide synovectomy, where the radioisotope is injected into the affected joint to alleviate pain and inflammation by targeting the synovial tissue. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Yttrium-90 hydroxyapatite radionuclide synovectomy in improving joint functionality, as judged by physicians, in patients with inflammatory arthritis who had not responded to conventional treatments.
Methods: Patients with inflammatory arthritis were recruited from the orthopedics department and referred to the nuclear medicine department for evaluation.
