Background: Preservatives are well-known and important contact allergens.
Objectives: To examine the frequency of sensitization to preservatives, including time trends.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of data on patch testing of preservatives contained in the standard series and special series collected by the IVDK during 1996-2009.
Results: Some 120,000 and 80,000 patients were tested with the baseline and the preservative series, respectively. Sensitization frequencies of the standard series allergens all ranged above 1%: methyldibromoglutaronitrile (MDBGN) 2·36-4·5%, methy(chloro)isothiazolinone (MCI/MI) 2·22%, formaldehyde 1·54%, paraben mix 1·33% and Bronopol® 1·25%. Regarding the special preservative series, 1·54% reacted positive to methylisothiazolinone (MI), and < 1% to the other preservatives. Concomitant reactions to formaldehyde in formaldehyde releasers ranged from 15% to almost 50%, and 67% of MI positives reacted to MCI/MI. As indicated by the MOAHLFA index, sensitization to MI, iodopropynylbutyl carbamate (IPBC) and quaternium 15 was associated more often with occupational dermatitis, whereas sensitization to imidazolidinyl urea and diazolidinyl urea was associated with face dermatitis, indicating cosmetic exposure. Epidemiologically relevant decreases (> 10%) were seen in chloroacetamide, benzyl alcohol and MDBGN. Epidemiologically relevant increases were noted in IPBC, sodium benzoate and MI.
Conclusions: Preservatives are still important contact allergens. The introduction of new preservatives should consider the specific characteristics of occupational and of nonoccupational (cosmetic, household) exposure, and preventive measures should aim equally at both areas.

The nature of biological research is changing, driven by the emergence of big data, and new computational models to parse out the information therein. Traditional methods remain the core of biological research but are increasingly either augmented or sometimes replaced by emerging data science tools. This presents a profound opportunity for those circadian researchers interested in incorporating big data and related analyses into their plans.

Distal femoral replacement (DFR) with megaprostheses is a salvage revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA) procedure indicated in cases with massive bone defects in the distal femur. As long as these implants achieve fixation only in the diaphysis, the high aseptic loosening rate reported in some series is probably related to a lack of rotational stability. Two patients with extensive distal femoral bone defects with preservation of the metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction underwent rTKA.

In this paper, a series of novel quinazoline-4(3)-one-2-carbothioamide derivatives (8a-p) were designed and synthesized the Wilgerodt-Kindler reaction between 2-methylquinazoline-4-one 10 and amines using S/DMSO as the oxidizing system. Their characteristics were confirmed by IR, NMR, HRMS spectra, and their melting point. These novel derivatives (8a-p) were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW 264.

Patients And Methods: We carried out a cohort comparison study of a prospectively collected single-surgeon series. The surgeon was an 'in-training' fellowship trained surgeon in their first 2 years of independent practice.

Introduction: To report a series of patients who developed ocular surface disease related to tisotumab vedotin-tftv (TV), an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) approved for the treatment of recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer.
Methods: This was a multicenter retrospective chart review study of patients who developed ocular surface disease related to TV between April 1st, 2022 to August 31st, 2023.
Results: Five patients were identified who developed ocular surface disease while on TV.
