A 42 year old female received intramuscular injection of 40 mg triamcinolone acetonide on the right upper arm for the treatment of pollen allergy at another clinic. Subcutaneous atrophy appeared at the injection site a few days after. Since there were no signs of improvement, the patient visited our clinic for further examination. The subcutaneous atrophy after local injection of corticosteroids is generally considered to be reversible and it improves within about 1 year after the injection. After one year since local injection, subcutaneous atrophy did not improve and we performed fat injection using autologous fat. As a treatment, we thought that the fat injection method is a superior method since it is less invasive from a cosmetic standpoint.

Background: Intramuscular corticosteroid injection may cause adverse effects such as dermal and/or subcutaneous atrophy, alopecia, hypopigmentation, and hyperpigmentation. Although cutaneous atrophy can spontaneously resolve, several treatment options have been suggested for this condition.
Case Summary: In this paper, we report a case of corticosteroid injection induced lipoatrophy treated with autologous whole blood (AWB) injection, as the condition had been unresponsive to fractional laser therapy.

Objective: To investigate the effects of Astragalus polysaccharide (APS) on skeletal muscle structure and function in D-galactose (D-gal)-induced C57BL/6J mice.
Methods: Eighteen male C57BL/6J mice of specific pathogen-free (SPF) grade, aged 8 weeks, were selected and divided into three groups: a control group (0.9% saline gavage for 16 weeks), a D-gal group (subcutaneous injection of 200 mg/kg D-galactose in the upper neck region, once daily for 8 weeks), and a D-gal + APS group (subcutaneous injection of 200 mg/kg D-galactose, once daily for 8 weeks, with concurrent administration of 100 mg/kg APS by gavage for 8 weeks).

Brachial plexus root avulsion (BPRA) is often caused by road collisions, leading to total loss of motor function in the upper limb. At present, effective treatment options remain limited. Edaravone (EDA), a substance that eliminates free radicals, exhibits numerous biological properties, including neuroprotective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Background: Research has demonstrated that individuals with sarcopenia or sarcopenic obesity who experience fractures or undergo major surgical interventions exhibit a poorer prognosis compared to the general population. However, few studies have investigated the relationship between the skeletal muscle and adipose tissue indices, as measured at the 12th thoracic spine level, and adverse outcomes following orthopedic surgery. Therefore, this study aimed to prove whether skeletal muscle and adipose tissue index measured by computed tomography (CT) images based on a single layer are associated with one-year postoperative mortality in elderly hip fracture patients.

Poultry scientists are constantly studying different breeds of cockerels that would be suitable for capon meat production. Capon meat, although not yet very popular, is characterized by exceptional taste qualities that could appeal to many customers. Obtaining the appropriate palatability, structure and tenderness of capon meat is possible thanks to the reduction in androgen levels following the castration of roosters.
