Unlabelled: Toddlers are more prone to develop severe and extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB) than older children. This is partially explained by differences in the immune response. Early and specific diagnosis is essential to start adequate treatment, especially if the central nervous system (CNS) is involved. The lack of sputum production and inherent dangers or impossibility of sampling CNS lesions may delay diagnosis. In addition, the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of TB abscesses are non-specific and may mimic abscesses of other infectious etiology. (1)H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS) may increase specificity of diagnosis by identifying lipids within the lesions that are considered characteristic for TB. Therefore, we studied four children with presumable CNS-TB with MRI and (1)H-MRS. In vivo and in vitro (1)H-MRS showed elevated lipid peaks within the TB lesions.
Conclusion: (1)H-MRS allows to non-invasively identifying TB with high specificity and may allow early installment of targeted antimicrobial treatment.

Background: Routine screening to detect silent but deadly cancers such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) can significantly improve survival, creating an important need for a convenient screening test. High-resolution proton (1H) magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of plasma identifies circulating metabolites that can allow detection of cancers such as PDAC that have highly dysregulated metabolism.
Methods: We first acquired 1H MR spectra of human plasma samples classified as normal, benign pancreatic disease and malignant (PDAC).

The present study aimed to evaluate the metabolic profile of synovial fluid in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and its correlation with clinical data. We collected synovial fluid samples from the knees of 50 subjects with KOA undergoing total knee arthroplasty from October 2019 to December 2020. For each patient, we evaluated the clinical data from the medical record, the radiographic osteoarthritis grade, and the preoperative fasting blood glucose levels.

Background: Giving contrast material before H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) could enhance the precision of locating the lesion of interest. However, evidence indicates that contrast material might influence the outcomes of MRS.
Purpose: To verify the effect of gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA) on MRS in normal white matter.

Background: Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an effective therapy for brain metastases. Response is assessed with serial 1H magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Early markers for response are desirable to allow for individualized treatment adaption.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the brain temperature (T) by using H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H MRS) thermometry and investigate its age and gender differences in healthy adults. The brain temperature was further compared with the body temperature (T) to investigate the possible existence of brain-body temperature gradient (∆T).
Methods: A total of 80 subjects were included in this study.
