Department of Pediatric Surgery, University Hospital of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany.
Background: There is a paucity of information on procedural and long-term outcomes of tunneled central venous catheters (TCVC) in infants and children younger than 3 years undergoing anticancer therapy. This study aims to evaluate the success, safety, and complications leading to surgical revision or premature removal of TCVC in this particular patient group.
Methods: The clinical course of pediatric patients with percutaneous inserted TCVC, including Groshong (GC) and Hickman/Broviac (HB) catheters, has been analyzed retrospectively.

Background: Although home parenteral nutrition (HPN) is often indicated in cancer patients, many physicians are concerned about the risks potentially associated with the use of central venous access devices (VADs) in these patients. The aim of this prospective study was to investigate the actual incidence of VAD-related complications in cancer patients on HPN.
Methods: All adult cancer patient candidates for VAD insertion and HPN were enrolled.

We investigated the problem points in the cases of two HPN patients from our hospital. Patient 1 was a 76-year-old man who had undergone surgery for esophageal cancer.
