The peritrophic matrix (PM) acts as a physical barrier that influences the vector competence of mosquitoes. We have previously shown that gut microbiota promotes PM formation in Anopheles stephensi, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we identify that the cell wall components of gut commensal bacteria contribute to PM formation.

This research explores patterns of views on substance use among Norwegian adolescent girls aged 16-19 years. By examining the participants' experiences, attitudes and needs, the study seeks to uncover how teenage girls experience the use of substances, how the use impacts their daily lives, and their relationships with peers, family and welfare professionals. To achieve this understanding, we utilised Q methodology to capture the perspectives of 42 Norwegian adolescent girls.

Background: Perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease (PFCD) is a challenging and debilitating phenotype of Crohn's disease that can negatively affect quality of life. Studies have begun to uncover the physiologic mechanisms involved in wound repair as it relates to PFCD and how aberrations in these mechanisms may contribute to fistula persistence.
Aims: To review the physiologic and pathophysiologic mechanisms of wound repair in PFCD and how specific therapeutic strategies may impact their outcomes.

Nitrogen contamination of water sources poses significant environmental and health risks. The sulfur-driven simultaneous nitrification and autotrophic denitrification (SNAD) process offers a cost-effective solution, as it operates in a single reactor, requires no organic carbon addition, and produces minimal sludge. However, this process remains underexplored, with microbial population dynamics, their interactions, and their implications for process efficiency not yet fully understood.
