The synergistic approach of combining photodynamic immunotherapy with endogenous clearance of PD-L1 immune checkpoint blockade therapy holds promise for enhancing survival outcomes in glioblastoma (GBM) patients. The observed upregulation of O-GlcNAc glycolysis in tumors may contribute to the stabilization of endogenous PD-L1 protein, facilitating tumor immune evasion. This study presents a pH-adapted excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT)-isomerized β-ketoamide-based covalent organic framework (COF) nanoplatform (denoted as OT@COF-RVG).

Transplantation of insulin-secreting cells provides a promising method for re-establishing the autonomous blood glucose control ability of type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients, but the low survival of the transplanted cells hinder the therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we 3D-printed an encapsulation system containing β-like cells and microvascular fragments (MVF), to create a retrivable microdevice with vascularized islets in vivo for T1D therapy. The functional β-like cells were differentiated from the urine epithelial cell-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (UiPSCs).

Many studies have highlighted the role of probiotics in re-establishing the gut microbiota balance and preventing intestinal barrier dysfunction. In fact, they can also contribute to the upregulation of anti-inflammatory genes and the downregulation of pro-inflammatory genes, which are known to contribute to the development of the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) syndrome. The present study aims to investigate the effect of the compatible solute hydroxyectoine (HOE), to be used as a cryopreservant but also for its intrinsic biological properties, to obtain a new formula containing three probiotic strains ( (), SP-48 (), and HN019 ()), and evaluate the latter for its ability to prevent lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in an bi-dimensional model of the intestinal barrier using a Caco-2 cell monolayer.

The human gut microbiota, the vast community of microbes inhabiting the gastrointestinal tract, plays a pivotal role in maintaining health. Bacteria are the most abundant organism, and the composition of bacterial communities is strongly influenced by diet. Gut bacteria can degrade complex dietary carbohydrates to produce bioactive compounds such as short-chain fatty acids.

(1) Background/Objectives: Nail psoriasis (NP) is a chronic and difficult-to-treat disease, which causes significant social stigma and impairs the patients' quality of life. Moreover, nail psoriasis is a true therapeutic challenge for clinicians. The presence of nail psoriasis can be part of a severe form of psoriasis and can have predictive value for the development of psoriatic arthritis.
