Using the molecular cytogenetic and RAPD methods of analysis, we studied genomes of 22 cultivated flax varieties and 24 wild species from six sections of the genus Linum L. The chromosome numbers were exactly determined in the karyotypes of all studied species, and all individual chromosomes were identified by the C/DAPI-banding pattern and localization of 26S rDNA and 5S rDNA. B chromosomes were identified and studied for the first time in species of the section Syllinum Griseb. According to the data obtained, the species studied were divided into eight groups on the basis of similarity of their karyotypes, which corresponded in general to their clustering based on the RAPD results. The systematic positions and phylogenetic relationships of the flax species were verified.

Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized immuno-oncology with effective clinical responses, only 30 to 40 % of patients respond to ICIs, highlighting the need for reliable biomarkers to predict and enhance therapeutic outcomes. This study investigated how amino acid, glycolysis, and bile acid metabolism affect ICI efficacy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Through targeted metabolomic profiling and machine learning analysis, we identified amino acid metabolism as a key factor, with histidine (His) linked to favorable outcomes and homocysteine (HCys), phenylalanine (Phe), and sarcosine (Sar) linked to poor outcomes.

is a flax fungal pathogen. The genus comprises differently virulent strains, leading to significant yield losses. However, there were no attempts to investigate the molecular mechanisms of pathogenicity from high-quality genome assemblies until this study.

This species is believed to originate from Western Asian and Eastern European regions, where the center of diversity of the genus is located. Cultivated species arose via a series of polyploidization events, serving as bottlenecks narrowing genetic diversity of the species.

Background And Aims: Chromosome evolution leads to hybrid dysfunction and recombination patterns and has thus been proposed as a major driver of diversification in all branches of the tree of life, including flowering plants. In this study we used the genus Linum (flax species) to evaluate the effects of chromosomal evolution on diversification rates and on traits that are important for sexual reproduction. Linum is a useful study group because it has considerable reproductive polymorphism (heterostyly) and chromosomal variation (n = 6-36) and a complex pattern of biogeographical distribution.
