Introduction: The correlation between an increased body mass index and testicular germ cell cancer has been a topical subject matter of literature. The thesis examines whether for patients with germ cell cancer of the testis the relation between the body cross section and the muscle mass at a particular spot at the abdomen is dislocated toward muscle hypertrophy.
Patients, Materials, And Methods: CT examinations of 120 patients with testicular tumor have been compared to CTs of 60 trauma surgery patients.
Measurements: In thickness of the layer at the lowest point of the umbilicus the area of the total body cross section and the Mm. psoas majores were determined and their quotient was calculated. Furthermore, the thickness of the M. rectus abdominis and the Mm. obliquii abdominis have been determined at the broadest spot.
Results: The reproducibility of the measured data has been extremely high (kappa >0.9). There has been no significant difference in any of the examined parameters between the comparison group and the total patient group.
Discussion: According to the literature, patients with germ cell cancer of the testis on average show a higher body-mass-index (BMI) compared to a comparable group of equivalent age. The height of the umbilicus is a body region, where for adipose humans the amplitude increases markedly, hence for reference measurement appropriate. On the basis of the outcome of this thesis, the most probable explanation for the BMI rise is weight gain at other body parts.

Purpose: microRNA-371a-3p (M371) is considered a highly sensitive and specific serum biomarker of testicular germ cell tumours (GCTs). However, little is known about the expression of M371 in nontesticular malignancies (NTMs), so far. As knowledge about the expression of the marker in other malignancies is a prerequisite for the clinical application of the test we aimed to explore the M371 expression in other cancers.

Leukemia is one of the most common cancers in prepubertal girls and adolescents, with advances improving survival rates. However, treatments like chemotherapy and radiation are highly gonadotoxic, often causing ovarian insufficiency, early menopause, infertility, and endocrine disorders. Fertility preservation for young female cancer patients, especially prepubertal girls without mature germ cells, relies heavily on ovarian tissue cryopreservation.

Tight junctions (TJs) between adjacent Sertoli cells are believed to form immunological barriers that protect spermatogenic cells expressing autoantigens from autoimmune responses. However, there is no direct evidence that Sertoli cell TJs (SCTJs) do indeed form immunological barriers. Here, we analyzed male mice lacking claudin-11 (Cldn11), which encodes a SCTJ component, and found autoantibodies against antigens of spermatocytes/spermatids in their sera.

The unpredictable nature of stress complicates understanding its relationship with male infertility. In this study, we investigated testicular germ cell and junctional dynamics in male mice following exposure to chronic unpredictable stress (CUS). Adult Parkes male mice were exposed to CUS for 35 days (one complete spermatogenic cycle), with a random stressor (restraint stress, water deprivation, food deprivation, light flashing, wet bedding, cage shaking, or cage tilting) applied once per day in an intermittent and unpredictable manner to avoid repeating the same stimulus on consecutive days.

Throughout embryonic development, cells respond to a diverse set of signals and forces, making individual or collective decisions that drive the formation of specialized tissues. The development of these structures is tightly regulated in space and time. In recent years, the possibility that neighboring tissues influence one another's morphogenesis has been explored, as some of them develop simultaneously.
