The secreted human protein SLURP-2 is a regulator of epithelial homeostasis, which enhances the viability and migration of keratinocytes. The targets of SLURP-2 in keratinocytes are nicotinic and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. This work is devoted to the search for the SLURP-2 functional regions responsible for enhancing keratinocyte viability and migration.

Background And Objective: Hemodynamic changes that lead to increased blood pressure represent the main drivers of organ damage in hypertension. Prolonged increases to blood pressure can lead to vascular remodeling, which also affects vascular hemodynamics during the pathogenesis of hypertension. Exercise is beneficial for relieving hypertension, however the mechanistic link between exercise training and how it influences hemodynamics in the context of hypertension is not well understood.

Background/aims: MOTS-c belongs to a group of mitochondrial peptides involved in metabolic processes in the body. This peptide has garnered increasing attention since its discovery in 2015 because of its potential to ameliorate metabolic parameters in animals with diabetes or insulin resistance. MOTS-c is involved in muscle metabolism; however, little is known about its role in fiber differentiation.

Protein methylation has attracted increasing attention due to its significant regulatory roles in various biological processes. However, the diversity of methylation forms, subtle differences between methylated and nonmodified sites, and their ultralow abundances pose substantial challenges for capturing and isolating methylated peptides from biological samples. Herein, we develop a chromatographic method that utilizes 4-sulfonylcalix[4]arene (SC4A) as a mobile phase additive and Click-Maltose as the stationary phase to separate methylated/nonmethylated peptides through the adsorption of the SC4A-(Me3) complex.
