Pomegranate peel powder is used as a functional ingredient in the development of nutritional bars. Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is well known fruit belongs to punicaceae family having multiple health benefits, not only limited to its edible parts but also in its non-edible parts mostly the peel. Fruit wastes are rich source of nutrients, and can be used for the development of functional food products.

Objectives: The concept of beauty from within is a growing trend in the market and people now look for oral supplements that can enhance the well-being of skin from within. Within this principle, a proprietary pomegranate extract (Grantria), standardized to ellagic acid, punicic acid and punicalagin, was developed using ADOP (Advanced Oil-Powder) technology and was clinically evaluated for its efficacy and safety in healthy adults.
Methods: This evaluation was carried out as a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study for 60 days at a daily dose of 300 mg.

A new depside glucoside rosarugoside E (1), together with four known compounds punicalagin (2), corilagin (3), granatin B (4) and ellagic acid (5) were isolated from the ethanol extract of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) flower. Their structures were identified based on careful analysis of various spectral data including UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR.
