A new class of potential prodrugs, 1,3-cyclic propanyl phosphate esters of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid, was designed and synthesized through the key reaction of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid with 1,3-cyclic propanyl phosphate ester catalysed by lithium diisopropylamide. The sustained-release properties of 1,3-cyclic propanyl phosphate esters of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid in vivo were also investigated. The animal experiments showed that 18β-glycyrrhetic acid was released from 1,3-cyclic propanyl phosphate esters of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid at a steady rate in rats and the plasma concentrations of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid were nearly stable. The result indicated that 1,3-cyclic propanyl phosphate esters of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid have sustained-release properties to avoid the quick metabolism of 18β-glycyrrhetic acid. These prodrugs are highlighted as a promising new strategy to improve 18β-glycyrrhetic acid metabolism.

Recent studies have suggested that the interaction between diet and an individual's genetic predisposition can determine the likelihood of obesity and various metabolic disorders. The current study aimed to examine the association of dietary branched-chain amino acids(BCAAs) and aromatic amino acids(AAAs) with the expression of the leptin and FTO genes in the visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissues of individuals undergoing surgery. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 136 Iranian adults, both men and women, aged ≥18 years.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of using probiotics with strains related to dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid production on clinical features of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This randomized, controlled trial involved 38 children with ADHD and 42 children with ASD, aged 5-16 years, who received probiotics (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Levilactobacillus brevis 109/cfu/daily) or placebo for 12 weeks. Parent-reported symptoms were assessed using Conners' 3rd-Ed and the Social Responsiveness Scale Test, 2nd-Ed (SRS-2), and children completed the Conners Continuous Performance Test, 3rd-Ed (CPT 3) or Conners Kiddie CPT, 2nd-Ed (K-CPT 2).

Nitrogen doped Carbon Quantum Dots (NCQDs) have been synthesized using most economical and easiest hydrothermal process. Here, N-phenyl orthophenylenediamine and citric acid were utilised as a source of nitrogen and carbon for the preparation of NCQDs. The synthesized NCQDs were characterized using experimental techniques like UV - Vis absorption, FT-IR, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), EDX, dynamic light scattering (DLS), fluorimeter and time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy.

Nitrogen@Carbon quantum dots (N@CQDs) are prepared using microwave hydrothermal method, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and melamine are used as mixed C source and N source. Microwave reaction conditions of preparing the N@CQDs are 170 ℃ and 3 h. This N@CQDs are are used as fluorescence probe for detection of amino acids.

Sublethal tumor cells have an urgent need for energy, making it common for them to switch metabolic phenotypes between glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) for compensatory energy supply; thus, the synchronous interference of dual metabolic pathways for limiting energy level is essential in inhibiting sublethal tumor growth. Herein, a multifunctional nanoplatform of Co-MOF-loaded anethole trithione (ADT) and myristyl alcohol (MA), modified with GOx and hyaluronic acid (HA) was developed, namely, CAMGH. It could synchronously interfere with dual metabolic pathways including glycolysis and OXPHOS to restrict the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) supply, achieving the inhibition to sublethal tumors after microwave (MW) thermal therapy.
