We demonstrate the realization of intense Airy-Airy-Airy (Airy(3)) light bullets by combining a spatial Airy beam with an Airy pulse in time. The Airy(3) light bullets belong to a family of linear spatiotemporal wave packets that do not require any specific tuning of the material optical properties for their formation and withstand both diffraction and dispersion during their propagation. We show that the Airy(3) light bullets are robust up to the high intensity regime, since they are capable of healing the nonlinearly induced distortions of their spatiotemporal profile.

(IP) extract was added to prepare edible films using a central rotational composite design (CCRD) 2 with IP extract and sorbitol concentrations as variables. The IP extract was characterized by color parameters, total phenolic content, caffeine, flavonoids, and chlorophyll content, and antioxidant activity and the edible films were assessed for the same analysis and thickness, water vapor permeability (WVP), solubility in water, fluorescence, photodegradation and UV/Vis light barrier, FT-IR, thermogravimetry, and differential exploratory colorimetry. Sorbitol increased thickness and WVP, while the extract influenced the concentration of phenolic compounds in the films.

Energy concentration is a key parameter for the characterization of light or acoustic bullets. To the best of our knowledge, the highest encircled-energy ratio in the mainlobe reported is merely 25% for the solitary bullet waves and 30% for the nonsolitary bullet waves. This letter reports experimentally and theoretically on a new family of acoustic bullets, namely, Airy pattern ultrasonic bullets, realized by the depth of focus synthesis.

Background: On 15 March 2019, a white supremacist gunman sequentially attacked two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 51 people aged from 3 to 77 years and bullet-injuring 40 more. Approximately 250 people survived the atrocity, and many more family and community members have been directly or indirectly affected.

Aim: To develop an understanding of the personal experiences of some of those affected, including effects on daily life and well-being, in the 18-30 months following the attacks.

Article Synopsis
  • Coronary artery fistulas (CAF) are uncommon connections between coronary arteries and nearby vessels or heart chambers, highlighted in a case involving a 47-year-old male with severe gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.
  • The patient sustained a through-and-through bullet wound to the heart, leading to the discovery of a CAF between the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) during diagnostic imaging.
  • Approximately three years post-injury, the patient shows symptoms of heart failure, indicating potential complications from the CAF, emphasizing the need for greater awareness among healthcare professionals regarding this condition.
