We study the dynamics of time-delay coupled limit-cycle oscillators in the amplitude death regime. Through a detailed analysis of the Jacobian at the fixed point, we show that the phase-flip transition, namely, the abrupt change from in-phase synchronized dynamics to antiphase synchronized dynamics, is associated with an interchange of the imaginary parts of complex pairs of eigenvalues at an "avoided crossing" of Lyapunov exponents as a parameter is varied. An order parameter for the transition is constructed through the eigenvectors of the Jacobian.

The exceptional point (EP) is the critical phase transition point in parity-time () symmetry systems, offering many unique physical phenomena, such as a chiral response. Achieving chiral EP in practical applications has been challenging due to the delicate balance required between gain and loss and complicated fabrication, limiting both working band and device miniaturization. Here, we proposed a nonlocal metasurface featuring orthogonal gold nanorods, where loss modulation is achieved through rod size and lattice pitch.

We analyze the thermodynamic properties of the random-bond Ising model (RBIM) on closed hyperbolic surfaces using Monte Carlo and high-temperature series expansion techniques. We also analyze the dual-RBIM, that is, the model that in the absence of disorder is related to the RBIM via the Kramers-Wannier duality. Even on self-dual lattices this model is different from the RBIM, unlike in the Euclidean case.

We have explored a variety of synchronization domains and observed phase-flip transition in a pair of coupled 1-pentanol drops as a function of the volume mismatch. Both experimental observations and numerical studies are presented. The experiments were carried out in a rectangular channel in a ferroin deionized water solution premixed with some volume of pentanol.

An odd-occupied quantum dot in a Josephson junction can flip transmission phase, creating a π junction. When the junction couples topological superconductors, no phase flip is expected. We investigate this and related effects in a full-shell hybrid interferometer, using gate voltage to control dot-junction parity and axial magnetic flux to control the transition from trivial to topological superconductivity.

We study the dynamics of nonlinear oscillators coupled through environmental diffusive coupling. The interaction between the dynamical systems is maintained through its agents which, in turn, interact globally with each other in the common dynamical environment. We show that this form of coupling scheme can induce an important transition like phase-flip transition as well transitions among oscillation quenching states in identical limit-cycle oscillators.
