Activated Graphite with Richly Oxygenated Surface from Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries for Microwave Absorption.

Small

January 2025

School of Materials and Physics & Center of Mineral Resource Waste Recycling, China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou, Jiangsu, 221116, China.

Designing spent graphite anodes from lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) for applications beyond regenerated batteries offers significant potential for promoting the recycling of spent LIBs. The battery-grade graphite, characterized by a highly graphitized structure, demonstrates excellent conductive loss capabilities, making it suitable for microwave absorption. During the Li-ion intercalation and deintercalation processes in battery operation, the surface layer of spent graphite (SG) becomes activated, forming oxygen-rich functional groups that enhance the polarization loss mechanism.

The M13 phage carries approximately 5 copies of the pIII protein, each of which is capable of displaying a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) that targets a specific antigen. This feature enables the M13 phage to be widely employed in the construction of scFv libraries, thereby facilitating the identification of antibodies with high specificity and affinity for target antigens. In this study, mice were immunized three times with (strain C50041) to induce diverse antibodies.

Background: Removal of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) is strongly recommended for CIED-related infections, and leadless pacemakers (LPs) are increasingly used for reimplantation. However, the optimal timing and safety of LP implantation after CIED removal for infection remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess complication rates (all-cause mortality and reinfection) when LP implantation was performed simultaneously with or after CIED removal.

Inspection of wind turbine bolted connections using the ultrasonic phased array system.

Heliyon

July 2024

Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, G1 1XQ, UK.

This study explores the inspection of bolted connections in wind turbines, specifically focusing on the application of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT). The research comprises four sections: Acoustoelastic Constant calibration, high tension investigation on bolts, blind tests on larger bolts, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) verification. The methodology shows accurate results for stress while the bolt is under operative loads, and produces a clear indication of when it is above these loads and beginning to deform.

Current treatments for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remain challenging, characterized by poor clinical outcomes. Exosomes, cell-derived membranous vesicles, has been emerging as a new modality of therapy. Here we designed and generated genetically reprogrammed exosomes with surface displayed antibodies and immunoregulatory proteins, namely programmed immune-engaging exosomes (PRIME Exos).
