The aerodigestive organs share a kindred embryologic origin that allows for a more complete explanation as to how the foregut can remain a barrier to normalcy in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF). The structures of the aerodigestive tract include the nasopharynx, the oropharynx, the hypopharynx, the esophagus, the stomach, as well as the supraglottic, glottic, and subglottic tubular airways (including the trachea). Additional gastrointestinal (GI) luminal/alimentary organs of the foregut include the duodenum.

Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) is currently used in the clinical treatment of thoracic spine disorders and has achieved desirable results. In this study, we selected CT images of the thoracic spine from 54 patients and divided the intervertebral spaces into six regions (A, I, II, III, IV, P) using the Moro method. We observed the adjacent relationships between the thoracic spine and surrounding tissues such as the scapula, esophagus, thoracic aorta, and superior vena cava.

Esophageal perforation from blunt trauma is rare. It is more frequently encountered in a penetrative mechanism where the cervical esophagus is most commonly injured. Blunt esophageal injury is challenging to diagnose with nonspecific findings clinically and radiologically within trauma settings.
