Introduction: Americans have increased their intake of food away from home, which is lower in quality and higher in calories than food prepared at home. The increase of operations that serve food also impacts the military nutrition environment-including all foods, beverages, and dietary supplements available to the military community-and its role in nutritional fitness.
Methods: As part of a pilot study, 5 military installations used the online Military Nutrition Environment Assessment Tool to evaluate their local food landscape.

Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health crisis that is predicted to worsen in the coming years. While improper antibiotic usage is an established driver, less is known about the impact of other endogenous and exogeneous environmental factors, such as metals, on AMR. One metal of interest is zinc as it is often used as a supplement for diarrhea treatment prior to antibiotics.

Introduction: Granulocyte concentrates (GC) are leukocyte preparations enriched in neutrophils that can potentially save neutropenic patients from life-threatening, antimicrobial-resistant infections. The main challenge of GC transfusions is preserving the viability and antimicrobial activity of neutrophils beyond 24 h to reduce the logistical burden on collection centers and increase the availability of this cell therapy. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore extending the ex vivo viability and antimicrobial activity of GC neutrophils up to 72 h with a unique combination of the clinically-approved additives Plasma-Lyte, SAGM, AS-3 and Alburex.

The condition is multifactorial, with iron deficiency being one of the most prevalent causes. Current treatment for anemia often relies on iron supplements or erythropoiesis-stimulating agents, although these therapies may show limited efficacy for some patients.

Introduction: Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent among patients undergoing hemodialysis. This study aimed to investigate the associations between vitamin D levels and clinical parameters with the risk of COVID-19 infection, severity, and mortality in hemodialysis patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD).
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 198 hemodialysis patients from a single center.
