Aim: To investigate changes of density of platelet glycoprotein (GP) II b/III a receptor in the perioperative period of gastrectomy in aged rats.

Methods: The subtotal gastrectomy operation was performed in 16 adult rats and 16 aged rats respectively. Platelet surface density of GP II b/III receptors were determined by flow cytometric analysis before and 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 hours after operation.

Results: 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours after operation, the density of GP II b/III a in aged group increased continuously compared with preoperative period (6h, 12, 72: P < 0.05; 24, 48: P < 0.01).

Conclusion: Gastrectomy can lead to an increase of density of platelet GP II b/III a receptor in aged rats.

Fibrin film on clots is increased by haematocrit but reduced by inflammation: implications for platelets and fibrinolysis.

J Thromb Haemost

Discovery and Translational Science Department, Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK.

Background: Blood clot formation, triggered by vascular injury, is crucial for haemostasis and thrombosis. Blood clots are composed mainly of fibrin fibres, platelets and red blood cells (RBCs). Recent studies show that clot surface also develops a fibrin film, which provides protection against wound infection and retains components such as RBCs within the clot.

Platelet-rich fibrin application after mandibular third molar extraction: an umbrella review.

Clin Oral Investig

December 2024

Department of Stomatology, First Branch Hospital of First Affilliated Hospital, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China.

Objectives: The aim of this study was evaluate the effect of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) in patients after mandibular third molar extraction through an analysis of the most current literature on systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Data, Sources And Study Selection: By using computer-assisted search technology, we comprehensively searched several reliable databases, such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang Data, the Chinese biomedical literature database, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBase, and the Cochrane Library, and performed a systematic retrospective meta-analysis on all of the collected studies on the therapeutic effects of PRF on patients after mandibular third molar extraction. A total of nine meta-analyses were performed in this study, and all nine studies were rated as high quality on the basis of the AMSTAR 2 criteria.

Background: The lactation period is a crucial period where the nutritional status and the mother's environment influence milk production, impacting organ differentiation, function, and structure in the baby's body.

Aim: The study aimed to determine the impact of providing lactating rats with quail egg supplements enriched with marine macroalgae on their physiological condition (blood cells, lipids, blood glucose, antioxidant activity, and prolactin hormone levels) and the growth of their offspring.

Methods: The study involved 25 lactating Sprague Dawley white rats aged 3 months old and weighing approximately 200 g divided into five treatment groups thus; T0 as the control, T1 with quail eggs enriched with commercial feed, T2 with quail eggs enriched with 3% of marine macroalgae, T3 with quail eggs enriched with 4% of marine macroalgae, and T4 with quail eggs enriched with 5% of marine macroalgae, which received one quail egg for 21 days.

Background: High triglyceride (TG) affects and is affected of other hematological factors. The determination of serum fasted triglycerides concentrations, as part of a lipid profile, is crucial key point in hematological factors and significantly affect various systemic diseases. This study was carried out to assess the potential relation between the concentration of TG and hematological factors.
