Objective: To investigate the roles of p38 MAPK in apoptosis of the normal liver cell, the paratumor cirrhosis hepatocellular cell and the hepatocellular carcinoma cell.

Methods: Three cell lines were adopted (the normal liver cell line HL-7702, the paratumor cirrhosis hepatocellular cell line QSG-7701 and the hepatocellular carcinoma cell line QGY-7703) and treated with Diamminedichloroplatin (DDP, cisplatin) and p38MAPK inhibitor SB203580. The apoptosis and cell cycles were detected by flow cytometry and electromicroscopy. The expressions of p38MAPK, CDC25B, p34cdc2 and cyclinB1 were detected by immunocytochemical staining , confocal microscopy and western blot.

Results: The apoptotic rates in all three cell lines pretreated with DDP increased obviously and the rates in normal liver cells and HCC cells increased continuously even after SB203580 treatment, whereas in paratumor cirrhosis cells the rate decreased and the cell cycle stopped at S phase.

Conclusion: Cisplatin induces apoptosis in the paratumor cirrhosis hepatocellular cell line QSG-7701 via activation of p38MAPK pathway and it differs in the normal liver cells from the hepatocellular carcinoma cells.

Gasdermin (GSDM) family, the key executioners of pyroptosis, play crucial roles in anti-pathogen and anti-tumor immunities, although little is known about the expression of GSDM in lung diseases at single-cell resolution, especially in lung epithelial cells. We comprehensively investigated the transcriptomic profiles of GSDM members in various lung tissues from healthy subjects or patients with different lung diseases at single cell level, e.g.

The chemoattractant protein chemerin is protective in experimental hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and high expression in HCC tissues of Asian patients was related to a favorable prognosis. Studies from Asia found reduced expression of chemerin in HCC compared to para-tumor tissues while our previous analysis observed the opposite. Aim of this study was to correlate chemerin expression in HCC tissues with disease severity of European patients Hepatocyte chemerin protein expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry in HCC tissue of 383 patients, and was low in 24%, moderate in 49% and high in 27%.

We investigated whether the degree of inflammation and fibrosis in para-carcinoma tissue can predict prognosis of patients with non-cirrhotic hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after hepatectomy. We also explored the mechanisms through which inflammation and fibrosis might affect prognosis. Clinicopathological data were retrospectively analyzed from 293 patients with non-cirrhotic HBV-associated HCC who were treated at our institution by curative resection from 2012 to 2017.

N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10), a nuclear acetyltransferase and a member of the GNAT family, plays critical roles in RNA stability and translation processes as well as cell proliferation. Little is known about regulatory effects of NAT10 in lung epithelial cell proliferation. We firstly investigated NTA10 mRNA expression in alveolar epithelial types I and II, basal, ciliated, club, and goblet/mucous epithelia from heathy and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, lung adenocarcinoma, para-tumor tissue, and systemic sclerosis, respectively.

Aim: Glutamine synthetase (GS) levels increase gradually with the development of hepatocellular carcinogenesis. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical significance of GS and the underlying mechanism of GS promoting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) invasion.

Methods: Serum concentration of GS and α-fetoprotein (AFP) in HCC patients, liver cirrhosis patients, and healthy individuals were detected.
