Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have attracted significant attention in recent years due to its environment friendly characteristics and its participation in the multi-heteroatom doping of carbon quantum dots (CQDs). In this work, we present a simple, fast, and environment-friendly microwave synthesis approach for the synthesis of DES-assisted nitrogen and chloride co-doped CQDs (N,Cl-CQDs) using a choline chloride-urea based DES. A biomass-based precursor, i.

Laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy was used to detect mercury ions in aqueous solutions, in which CH-95 resin was used to chelate the ions to transform the liquid samples into solid ones. The experimental results showed that the fluorescence emission of the chelated solid-state samples excited by a low-power semiconductor laser at the wavelength of 447 nm was significantly enhanced due to the chelating reaction. The fluorescence intensity was proportional to the concentration of mercury ions with a linear correlation coefficient of = 0.

The detection of mercury ions (Hg) is crucial due to its harmful effects on health and environment. In this article, what we believe to be a novel dual-mode optical fiber sensor incorporating surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is proposed for ultra-trace Hg detection. The sensing probe comprises gold (Au)/graphene oxide (GO) composite membrane structure and Au nanospheres (AuNPs), which are connected via double-stranded DNA.

Mercury (II) ion (Hg) as highly toxic heavy metal may be accumulated in aquatic ecosystems and animals species so as to enter human body to conduct health harm. To ensure the safety of fishes food, hence, it is of great interest to evaluate the Hg levels in different kinds of fishes as well as Hg removal in aquaculture tailwater. In this article, a selective colormetric detection and efficient removal strategy has been developed for Hg ions by the controlled supermolecular self-assembly of melamine (MA)-platinum (Pt) composites onto mesoporous FeO carriers.

Heavy metals like lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic are environmental pollutants that accumulate in ecosystems and pose significant health risks to humans and wildlife, primarily through food chain contamination where plants absorb heavy metals, affecting their growth and threatening consumer health. Cognitive and cardiovascular functions are particularly affected by exposure to heavy metals even at low concentrations through the induction of oxidative stress. Various analytical techniques are used in measuring heavy metals in different environmental and biological samples.
