In the title fused-ring compound, C(12)H(13)NO(3), the two five-membered C(3)NO rings both approximate to envelope conformations with C atoms in the flap positions. The OH group of the pendant CH(2)OH unit is disordered over two positions in a 0.528 (5):0.472 (5) ratio. One of the OH groups participates in an O-H⋯N hydrogen bond, generating centrosymmetric dimers in the crystal structure.

The title compound, (C(10)H(28)N(4))[MnCl(4)(H(2)O)(2)]Cl(2)·2H(2)O, consists of isolated octa-hedral [MnCl(4)(H(2)O)(2)](2-) anions, tetra-protonated 1,4,8,11-tetra-azoniacyclo-tetradecane cations, chloride anions and water mol-ecules connected by a network of hydrogen bonds. The Mn(II) atom is situated on an inversion centre, and the 1,4,8,11-tetra-azoniacyclo-tetradecane cation is located on a mirror plane.

The title compound, [FeCl2(C12H26N4)]PF6, is the first mononuclear Fe3+ complex of an ethylene cross-bridged tetraaza-macrocycle to be structurally characterized. Comparison with the mononuclear Fe2+ complex of the same ligand shows that the smaller Fe3+ ion is more fully encapsulated by the cavity of the bicyclic ligand. Comparison with the mu-oxo dinuclear complex of an unsubstituted ligand of the same size demonstrates that the methyl groups of 4,10-dimethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazabicyclo[5.
